The conference “The 7th European Meeting of the Urban Economics Association” is organized by the Urban Economics Association and the Kraks Fond – Institute for Urban Economic Research.
The Urban Economics Association (UEA) promotes participation and excellence in academic research in urban and regional economics. The association organizes annual meetings in North America and in Europe. The UEA also sponsors summer schools and workshops around the world. The board of the UEA currently includes editors from the leading academic journals in the field: the Journal of Urban Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics and the Journal of Economic Geography.

The Kraks Fond – Institute for Urban Economic Research covers a research field of economic, sociological, and geographical issues. Results are available to both decision makers, the general public, and researchers alike.
ABOUT THE VENUE
Fæstningens Materialgård (the Fortifications Depot) is located in the historic center of Copenhagen. The complex, which has heritage status, encloses a small oasis with roses and magnolias and was home to the Ministry of Defense for more than 250 years up till 2007.
As a part of Bryghusområdet (the Brewery Site), the Fortifications Depot stands along Frederiksholms Kanal, with Christiansborg Palace, the King’s Brewery and the Royal Library as its nearest neighbors. Furthermore, a new architectural site is being constructed. The new prestigious building is designed by Rem Koolhaas from OMA and aims to connect the city center to the Copenhagen harbor.
Kraks Fond – Institute for Urban Economic Research has been located in the Fortifications Depot since October 2014 together with the Danish Architecture Centre, Danish Design Centre, Copenhagen Solution Lab, INDEX and IFHP (The International Federation for Housing and Planning) and more companies and organisations are to come. The aim of this cluster is to create a national platform for the development and international exposure of Danish architecture, construction, urban development, design and urban research.
