March 26, 2019 @ 16:00 - 18:00

Our first Science Forum Afternoon Session of 2019 explores tensions and innovations at the intersection between two parallel notions of the city – the virtual and the physical. What can digital technologies, from social media feeds through sensoring technologies to simulation programming, tell us about the lived experience of cities? How can we best use these tools to help us design better cities and buildings? Can smart technology lead the way to more people-centered design?

Guest speakers include:

Mohammed Almahmood, Senior Researcher at Schulze Grassov, who will discuss his post-doctoral research into simulating public life in urban spaces through digital modeling.

Natalie Schluter, Associate Professor at ITU Copenhagen, who will discuss her work with computational linguistics and transforming social media date into tools for analyzing experiences of place.

Anthony Rowe, founder of Squidsoup, who will discuss the creation of immersive experiences through digitally augmented spaces and responsive, interactive public art.

Join us at the Arena at BLOXHUB for a moderated discussion between 16.00 and 18.00 on Tuesday the 26th of March 2019.
