SUMMARY:AEC Hackathon 2026
DESCRIPTION:Using Tech & AI to Build CO2-Neutral\, Biodiverse\, and Engaged Communities\n\n\n\n\nAEC Hackathon 2026 takes over BLOXHUB from 27–29 March 2026\, bringing together people who design\, build\, code\, plan\, and question how the built environment works. It’s three days set up for energetic\, focused\, and purposeful collaboration. Less talking about change\, more trying things out together. \nWe know the word “hackathon” can sound like a side quest. This one isn’t. The challenges come from industry partners and reflect their current business operations and known challenges: decarbonisation\, biodiversity\, data\, delivery\, trust\, and the gap between ambitious goals and day-to-day practice. The point is to work with that complexity under different conditions and with different constellations of people than any one company could achieve alone. \nAcross the weekend\, teams form around shared problems and develop early solutions -tools\, methods\, workflows\, prototypes\, concepts – supported by mentors and partners. The outcomes can be small and sharp or bigger and more exploratory\, but they’re always grounded in use: what would it take for this to be useful in a project\, inside an organisation\, or across a value chain? \nBLOXHUB hosts AEC Hackathon because it’s one of the rare formats where new ideas\, development and connections can happen at the same time. There are tangible examples from previous years where projects have continued beyond the weekend\, finding funding\, becoming products\, or sparking collaborations and new hires. But even when an idea doesn’t become a “thing\,” it can still shift how people work\, what they prioritise\, and who they decide to work with next.  \nWho is it for? \nEvery year between 100 – 150 people attend AEC Hackathon – engineers\, architects\, computer scientists\, BIM developers\, design thinkers\, anthropologists\, and tech enthusiasts. \nThis year’s hackathon will address Tech & AI to Build CO2-Neutral\, Biodiverse\, and Engaged Communities \n  \n\n\n\nWHAT IS AEC HACKATHON?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAEC (Architecture\, Engineering\, Construction) Hackathon is an organization that\, since its origin in 2013\, has held events in numerous locations; e.g. Berlin\, Shanghai\, and Paris. It was created to give those designing\, building\, and maintaining our built environment the opportunity to collaborate with cutting-edge technologies and its developers and designers. Over the course of three days\, teams compete against each other while trying to find solutions for the problems they face in their everyday work.It has quickly become a community of innovators that includes all elements of the built environment\, not just AEC.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSecure your place here

SUMMARY:Nature-based Solutions & Biodiversity in Nordhavn
DESCRIPTION:How do we bring “nature-based solutions” to life in real projects?\n\n\nThe Nature-Based Solutions Member Network (NBS-Net) exists to explore and answer exactly that question. Through a series of practical workshops\, we aim to move nature-based solutions out of theory and into real-world implementation. \n\n\nJoin us for our third workshop on the 7th April at 14:00 in Nordhavn. In this workshop we are pleased to be joined by Annette Walter\, project manager for sustainable urban development at By og Havn. Annette will introduce By and Havns work with nature based solutions and biodiversity in the Nordhavn project – a major urban development of Copenhagen’s port area\, where the city’s land and water meet. \n\n\nAfter the introduction to Nordhavn’s process and design\, we will have a facilitated discussion on how and where nature can be meaningfully integrated into a development of this kind.  \n\n\nThis workshop is the second in a trio exploring nature-based solutions across greenfield\, brownfield and bluefield sites in Denmark – with lessons that extend well beyond these individual cases. As a brownfield site\, Nordhavn must examine ways to reinsert nature to places where it has been stripped away\, and this workshop will explore how that is accomplished in practice. \n\n\nParticipants will gain exposure to peer exchange across disciplines and insights that are transferable to their own work. While open to everyone\, the workshop is particularly relevant for practitioners\, developers\, municipalities and consultants. \n\n\nPracticalities\n\n\nDate: 7 April 2026\nTime: 14:00–16:30\nLocation: By & Havn\, Nordre Toldbod 7\, DK-1259 København K \n\n\nThe first event in the network is free. Participation in subsequent workshops require a membership of BLOXHUB.\n \nContact george@thenextecology.com to register your attendance

SUMMARY:How does data create value for your business?
DESCRIPTION:The new Digital Product Passport for construction products (DPP) is on its way and will within a few years become a permanent part of how we work with materials in construction. Is your company ready for a reality where product data plays a far greater role in collaboration\, documentation and competitiveness? \nOn 9 April\, BLOXHUB\, ConTech Lab and DI Byggeri invite you to a workshop on how we can integrate the EU’s Digital Product Passport\, with a focus on data as the currency of the future – a currency that will be in high demand. But we need a common language for data if we are to unlock its full value\, and the companies that get started early will be better positioned and gain a competitive advantage. \nThe Digital Product Passport for construction products (DPP) is an EU initiative designed to make product data easier to understand and share across the value chain. The passport establishes a new common framework for how goods are documented\, compared and tracked throughout their entire lifecycle. It opens up many opportunities\, but the value will not come on its own. The purpose of the workshop is therefore to build an understanding of how you can turn data into value for your business – and how the DPP can help along the way. \nAt the workshop\, we bring together stakeholders from across the industry for a shared dialogue on: \n– What the DPP entails and what value it can create for your business\n– How we can use the DPP to facilitate collaboration across the value chain\n– What minimum requirements must be met before the DPP comes into force in order to capture its full value\n– How you and your company can prepare for working with the DPP in practice \nWho can participate? The workshop is relevant for anyone working in the construction sector – whether you are a manufacturer\, supplier\, consultant\, contractor\, developer\, or simply interested in how the DPP can create value for your business. The format will be a mix of dialogue and inspirational presentations\, with the opportunity to exchange ideas with other stakeholders across the value chain. \nInspirational presentations \nWhat is the current status and direction of the DPP?\nLouise Bünemann\, Head of EU Environmental Policy\, DI\nJakob Rørbech\, Senior Consultant\, DI Byggeri \nNew business models with data at the centre\nAnne Merete Skov-Petersen\, Co-founder\, MiCollect \nThe circular business opportunities that come with the DPP \nMartha Lewis\, Head of Materials\, Henning Larsen Architects \nHow do we get ready for the DPP? \nChristina Juell-Sundby\, Project Manager\, Molio – ConTech Lab \nPractical information\nDate: Thursday\, 9 April 2026\nTime: 09:00–12:00 (Croissants and coffee/tea from 08:30)\nVenue: BLOXHUB\, meeting room: Los Angeles (Festningens Materialgård\, Frederiksholms Kanal 30\, 1220 Copenhagen)\nLanguage: The workshop will be held in Danish. \nRegister for the workshop here

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB Talks: IBASHO - Belonging as an Urban Design Principle
DESCRIPTION:What is Ibasho?\nIn Japanese\, ibasho describes both a physical place and an inner state – the feeling of being safe\, accepted\, and needed. \nAs an urban design principle\, it links architecture and psychology\, space and social life. It invites us to see belonging not as a by-product of design\, but as a condition for it. \nWhy now?\nCities are facing ageing populations\, social isolation\, and growing mental health challenges. Japanese practice offers a perspective where belonging is treated as foundational infrastructure. \nWhat can Nordic and European cities learn from this approach? \nWhat you will gain \nFor BLOXHUB members and partners\, this session offers an opportunity to: \n\n\nExplore new lenses on urban wellbeing and belonging \n\n\nEngage with Japanese and Nordic practitioners working with placemaking and human-centred transformation \n\n\nReflect on how belonging can function as urban infrastructure \n\n\nTranslate insights into Nordic and European practice through dialogue and collaboration \n\n\nJoin us\nParticipate onsite at BLOXHUB or online via livestream.\nSecure your spot here \nProgramme\n08:30-09:00 Breakfast and arrival – with Japanese culinary touches \n09:00 Welcome and setting the scene: Why Japan – and why now? / Jakob Norman-Hansen\, BLOXHUB \n09:10 Keynote (live online) Yuki Ikeguchi\, Executive Vice President\, Kengo Kuma & AssociatesOn Japanese placemaking and the cultural dimensions of space \n09:30 Keynote Helle Søholt\, Founder & Board Chair\, GehlHuman-centred urban transformation\, including lessons from Shibuya Station revitalisation \n09:50 Ibasho in practice: Belonging as urban infrastructure / Ann-Britt Elvin Andersen\, BLOXHUBIncluding insights from The Paradox of Proximity: Preventing Urban Loneliness \n10:05 Panel conversation and Q&A. SUMMARY:Network Group Launch: AI in AECO - Are we late or just getting started?
DESCRIPTION:AI in AECO Network Launch at BLOXHUB 🚀 \nAI is rapidly reshaping the built environment – and for many\, it’s hard to know where to start. \nIgnoring it is no longer an option. But navigating it alone doesn’t make sense either. \nAt BLOXHUB\, we’re launching a new AI Network Group for the AECO ecosystem – bringing together architects\, engineers\, designers\, planners\, and innovators who want to explore how AI is already changing the way we design\, plan\, build\, and operate our cities. \nThe group is initiated by Darshini Vomkar and Raul Cordero \nWe’ll open the conversation with:“AI in AECO: Are we late – or just getting started?” \nExpect an open\, practical discussion on where the industry stands\, what’s hype\, and where real opportunities are emerging. \n🗣️The best way to make sense of AI is to explore it together\, so come be part of the conversation \n👉 Sign up

SUMMARY:You Lost Me at Hello - Why most marketing fails\, before it even begins
DESCRIPTION:BLOXHUB members\, sharpen up on your marketing approach with the help of By the Fire\, who will lead the session “You Lost Me at Hello WHY MOST MARKETING FAILS\, BEFORE IT EVEN BEGINS” \nYour product isn’t the problem. Your words are. Too long. Too vague. Too complex. Too full of words that say very little. \nYou Lost Me at Hello is about fixing that\, getting to the core of what your brand actually needs to say — and stripping away everything that weakens it. You’ll leave with a sharper story and a message that connects from the first “Hello.” \nCris Hödar-Rasmussen brings 30+ years across global agencies and senior CMO roles — shaping brand narratives that connect and convert. \nJesper Haugaard is a performance director and digital strategist with deep roots in media\, martech\, and entrepreneurship. Together they founded By the Fire — a studio dedicated to making world-class marketing strategy accessible to brands at every stage. \nSign up

SUMMARY:Problem Framing Workshop - Too Many AI Ideas but Zero Clarity?
DESCRIPTION:AI Problem Framing: From Problems to Use Cases \nWhy: There’s never been more AI tools\, more opportunities\, more pressure to act. And somehow that makes it harder\, not easier\, to know what to actually do next. Most teams don’t have a problem with too many ideas. They have a clarity problem. This session exists to fix that. \nWhat we are going to do: In 60 minutes\, you’ll work through a real company scenario using a structured method to identify AI use cases that are actually worth building. You’ll map a workflow\, spot the real friction points\, match AI capabilities to business pain and then stress-test your solution against the risks that cause most AI pilots to fail before they ever reach production. \nWhat you are going to walk away with: A mental framework for cutting through the noise: a clear sense of what problem is actually worth solving right now\, why it matters to your business\, and which AI capability could realistically fix it\, captured in a use case card you can take back to your team and act on. No technical background required. \nThis workshop will be hosted by Felix Wigand\, AI facilitator and co-founder of Virtuall\, BLOXHUB Resident. \nSecure your place here

SUMMARY:Crossing Over: Danish Architecture in Canada\, Canadian Architecture in Denmark
DESCRIPTION:Denmark and Canada have a longer architectural relationship than most people realise. \nOver the past two decades\, Danish firms have built some of Canada’s most celebrated buildings\, reshaping waterfronts\, campuses\, and cultural institutions from Halifax to Toronto to Vancouver. Now\, with the CETA Mutual Recognition Agreement opening a formal pathway for Canadian architects to practice across the EU\, the conversation is becoming increasingly reciprocal. \nThis panel brings together leading Danish and Canadian architects to reflect honestly on what that exchange has produced\, what each culture has absorbed from the other\, where the friction has been\, and what a more deliberate\, two-way collaboration could look like as Canadian practices begin entering the Nordic market. \nThe discussion will also explore areas where Canadian and Danish practices may have opportunities to learn from one another\, including climate-responsive design\, low-carbon construction\, and timber innovation. At a time when both regions are rethinking how we build and adapt cities in response to climate and changing patterns of urban growth\, the panel asks what meaningful architectural exchange across borders could look like moving forward. \nModerated by Lars Emil Kragh\, Underdirektør\, Danske Ark \nPanelists: \nHeather Dubbeldam is a fourth-generation architect and Founding Principal of Dubbeldam Architecture + Design\, a Toronto-based studio recognised for innovative\, sustainable design across residential\, commercial and public projects\, and recipient of the 2024 Architectural Practice Award from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Her work — exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale and published internationally — reflects a deep commitment to livability\, low-carbon construction\, and the social role of architecture\, placing her practice in direct conversation with the values driving contemporary Danish design. An active international speaker and advocate\, Heather brings to this panel a Canadian practitioner’s perspective on what meaningful international exchange can produce\, and what it requires. \nNanna Stubbe Østergaard\, is Associate Partner and Senior Project Manager at SLA\, where she heads the practice’s engagement with the Canadian market. She is the lead on several of SLA’s most complex schemes in Canada — including the practice’s involvement in the Waterfront Toronto and Downsview projects reshaping Toronto — and has lectured on multiple occasions about the architectural and cultural connections between Denmark and Canada. Her work sits at the intersection of landscape\, urbanism\, and climate-responsive design\, making her a central figure in the growing dialogue between the two countries. \nAudun Opdal is a Senior Partner at 3XN where he is responsible for leading the delivery of major international projects. His recent work includes the new Sydney Fish Market\, a major waterfront destination that welcomed over 40\,000 visitors on its opening day; and 2 Finsbury Avenue\, a 35-storey tower targeting net zero carbon\, now under construction. In Canada Audun led the design of 3XN’s award-winning work on the Toronto waterfront\, including Aquabella\, Aqualuna\, and T3 Bayside. He is a keen advocate of integrated design methods and believes that great architecture can only be achieved through a collaborative effort between designers\, engineers\, and specialist consultants at all levels from partners to interns. He is closely engaged with academia as a mentor and external examiner at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. \nSign up here

SUMMARY:Human AI Circle "Into the Unknown"
DESCRIPTION:Preparing people for a change that has no finish line\nMost organisations today have a plan for implementing AI. Far fewer have a plan for supporting the people navigating it. The uncertainty is real. The fear of becoming irrelevant. The sense of loss for how work used to feel. The paralysis of not knowing what comes next. Unlike previous transformations\, this shift has no clear end state – no “freeze phase\,” no finish line. Traditional change management frameworks were not designed for continuous\, evolving disruption. \nThis first Human AI Circle gathering at BLOXHUB creates space for a more honest conversation. It brings together change leaders\, HR professionals\, and AI implementation leads to explore what truly helps people move through uncertainty. \nAgenda highlights: What past transformations can teach us about leading through uncertainty – and where those lessons fall short in the age of AI. \nPanel discussion: Managing fear\, grief\, and paralysis — insights from real-world change initiatives. \nHands-on workshop: Build a practical approach to preparing yourself and your organisation for what’s ahead. \nLunch is included. Seats are limited\, and participation is by application
