SUMMARY:Science Talks: Regenerative urban development
DESCRIPTION:JOIN US for the next Science Talks: Regenerative urban development on 28 April\, 3-4 pm. \nMoving towards a regenerative approach to urban development\, it is essential that we contribute positively. It’s not enough only to focus on reducing or repairing damage – we must give back more than we take. So how do we create regenerative cities?    \nTo help us shine a light on the regenerative approach\, we have invited Lotte Nystrup Lund\, one of the industrial researchers from our Circular Built Environment Network. Her research focuses on how a regenerative approach covering nature-inspired and nature-based ideas\, such as biophilic design and design for biodiversity\, can be integrated in urban development. In this Science Talk from Seoul\, she explains some of the key definitions\, challenges\, and potentials\, related to the regenerative approach. \nSpeaker: Lotte Nystrup Lund\, PhD Fellow\nRoyal Danish Academy / By & Havn\n______ \nWith Science Talks\, BLOXHUB invites you to participate and engage with researchers. Each Science Talks presents a current research topic that contributes to the many discussions amongst decision-makers\, practitioners\, and researchers. \nIn other words\, Science Talks are IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE ON TRENDING TOPICS – ON DEMAND. \nSign up here:

SUMMARY:Building the Infrastructure for the Future of Mobility
DESCRIPTION:FULLY BOOKED\nThe vast majority of existing infrastructure is not ready for the future of mobility. Neither if the majority of the mobility operating patterns remain based on car use\, nor if our mobility patterns change to a more sustainable way of transportation. In both scenarios our existing infrastructure is insufficient but at this Roundtable\, we will focus on what the infrastructure should look like if we want to push or nudge the sustainable mobility agenda. \nHow can private actors such as architects\, engineers\, urban planners\, etc. influence decision-makers; governments\, politicians\, and authorities to set high standards that accommodate different needs and make infrastructure more efficient\, equitable\, sustainable\, and spatially attractive while improving public health? How can the private actors push and partake in an integrated vision of how to equip the infrastructure of the future and thus shape the environment through the choice of mobility? \nWe invite you to participate in a 2-hour BLOXHUB Roundtable where we will discuss approaches and partnerships models that open up the possibility for the private sector within the built environment to have a greater influence on how infrastructural planning is developed and implemented. \nROUNDTABLE PROGRAM \n14:30 Welcome and intro\, Lotte C. Breengaard\, Program Director\, BLOXHUB\n14:40 ”Tour de table”\, Presentation\, All\n14:50 Designing streets for the future of sustainable urban mobility\, Robert Martin\, Architect & Ph.D. in future urban mobility\, Head of Mobility\, JAJA Architects\n15:00 Discussion\n– How can we drive the transition towards more efficient\, equitable\, sustainable\, and spatially attractive mobility systems?\n– How can partnerships between non-traditional private actors develop new solutions for how infrastructural planning is developed and implemented?\n16:20 Sum up\, Lotte C. SUMMARY:Blå biodiversitet og bæredygtig byudvikling
SUMMARY:Et meningsfuldt liv hele livet Trivselsfremmende byudvikling for ældre
Instituttet for Fremtidsforskning.

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB at MIPIM: How to make circularity irresistible for the real estate industry?
DESCRIPTION:To decarbonize international real estate\, the industry must integrate and mainstream circular business models. But are the investors and developers ready? Do we need a new approach to make circularity irresistible? At MIPIM\, we will lay out the vision and the challenges – and take a gut check with global decision makers: how do we go circular\, fast? \nCircularity represents the most viable option to drastically and rapidly reduce emissions associated with the real estate sector. But despite advances in recent year\, most initiatives are limited to pilot projects\, or focused on ESG requirements. Can circularity be a truly integral part of the core business strategies of the main decision makers? And if so\, how can we support that process? \nPanelists:– Gustaf Lilliehöok / NREP– Kåre Poulsgaard / GXN– Matt Kitson / Hilson Moran– Pablo van den Bosch / Madaster– Mette Qvist / Green Building Council DK \nMIPIM 2022WHEN: 15 March 2022\, 2 – 3 pm VENUE: Boulevard de la Croisette 35\, 1st floor Cannes\, France \nFor further information\, please contact Head of Global Networks\, Jakob Norman-Hansen\, jnh@bloxhub.orgSign up here:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Science Talk#2: Transforming urban spaces: Physical security by design and function
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the new year when we start our new event series. The overall theme for all Science Talks in 2022 will be: Regenerate.\n\nThe second Science Talk will take place in March\, the title of the talk is “Transforming urban spaces: Physical security by design and function”. How can a focus on architecture help us transform open spaces to secure sites\, without causing public concern? What are the potential benefits and pitfalls (if any) of thinking multi-functionality into security measures?\n\nTo help us address these questions\, we are joined by Landscape architect MAA Jørgen Becker-Christensen\, Schønherr\, Security Advisor Karin Castro\, The Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology (DBI)\, and Stine Ilum\, PhD. SUMMARY:Circular Economy in the Building Industry: From Pilot to Mainstream
DESCRIPTION:During the last decade\, the Danish building industry has established a solid knowledge base within the circular economy – both when it comes to design\, materials\, and documentation. However\, these achievements have largely been achieved through pilot projects\, which in most cases have been based on financial subsidies. So how does the sector organize itself to ensure a circular economy transition from pilot projects to mainstream based on sustainable business models? \nIn partnership with Enemærke & Petersen\, Frame\, and Madaster BLOXHUB Urban Partnership would like to invite you to a one-day workshop – the first of two – to take a deep dive into this discussion. The purpose of the workshop is to establish a roadmap\, which identifies opportunities\, barriers\, legislative needs\, and business models at different stages. During the workshop\, we will work with the following two dilemmas: \n\nThe market is responding to the circular economy through an increasing demand for circular economy profiled projects. Developers have accordingly accelerated their project portfolios from a linear to a circular profile. However\, developers experience difficulties in ensuring a reliable supply of circular materials to meet this demand. How is this barrier addressed to ensure that it does not discourage larger developers’ movement from a linear to a circular business model? \nInnovation is key for the future circular economy market in Denmark. The circular economy innovation has to a large extent in the early years been driven by start-ups and smaller companies. There is a risk that\, as a response to the increasing demand from the market on the circular economy\, the large companies are the only ones able to respond to this demand. There is also a risk that larger companies will do this based on a closed business model\, which loses out on the innovation capacity that exists in the smaller companies. How can we create a circular economy market in Denmark\, where the Danish SME’s innovation capacity is integrated into a market led by the larger companies?\n\nThe workshop will result in a roadmap\, which can further stimulate and accelerate the discussion on moving the circular economy into a mainstream business concept in the Danish building industry. \nWHEN: March 4\, 9:00-16:30\, 2022\nWHERE: Fæstningens Materialgård\, Frederiksholms Kanal 30\, 1220 Copenhagen\, room: Los Angeles. \nFor further information please contact\, Program Manager\, Torben Krab\, tkr@bloxhub.org. \nPLEASE REGISTER FOR THE WORKSHOP HERE: \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB DEBATES: How do we create an inclusive and socially responsible circular economy?
DESCRIPTION:Creating a circular economy has almost exclusively focused on the economic and environmental gains while the social impacts have barely been considered beyond the issue of job creation. Creating a more circular economy can create new sources of inequality in the world. The question is: How do we secure a circular transition that meets the needs of all within the means of our planet? We take a deep dive into the circular transformation from the perspective of social justice and inclusion in terms of distribution of wealth\, opportunities\, and privileges within a society. \nPanelists:\n– Frenzi Ritter\, Junior researcher at Metabolic\, Holland.\n– Rebecca Clube\, Interdisciplinary PhD researcher at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London\n– Salomé Galjaard\, Strategist for Circular Economy\, City of Amsterdam.\n– Karoline Liedtke-Sørensen\, Head of Landscape\, COBE\n– Siddharth Hande\, CEO and Founder of Kabadiwalla Connect\, India \nThis BLOXHUB Debates will be moderated by Monica Maria Moeskær\, Program Director – Cities Lead\, Danish Design Center.\n___________ \nThis fall\, we host the event series ‘Designing the Irresistible Circular Society’ consisting of 8 Science Talks and BLOXHUB Debates:\nHow do we ensure a sustainable future and how will our buildings and cities be created and by whom? Which values and materials will characterize today’s and tomorrow’s society? Building a circular economy in the built environment is high on the agenda. This series addresses the how to’s through eight events in the format of Science Talks and BLOXHUB Debates where we will engage city planners\, policy makers\, decision makers\, clients\, investors\, and users; present the latest research and experiences and ask the tough question: How do we create the irresistible circular society? \nPartners: Arup\, 3XN/GXN\, Lendager Group\, The Royal Danish Academy\, Danish Design Centre\, Build\, Aalborg University and BLOXHUB.

SUMMARY:Healthy Office Buildings. Bridging the Danish and German Market
DESCRIPTION:90% of people’s time on average is spent indoors. Thus the indoor climate has a significant impact on our health and cognitive functions. Several studies show that our well-being and performance improve dramatically with higher rates of ventilation\, optimal humidity\, the right light\, noise control and well-designed spaces. BLOXHUB (Copenhagen) and Factory Hammerbrooklyn (Hamborg) would like to invite you to join a cross-disciplinary workshop discussing how we turn that knowledge into action. \nBLOXHUB and Factory Hammerbrooklyn have entered a long-term strategic partnership with the aim to foster collaborations across borders\, share and disseminate knowledge\, establish new business partnerships in the neighboring markets\, and create the best innovation lab for co-creating urban sustainable solutions. You are invited to join the first in a series of workshops under the initiative as part of the kick-off event taking place in Copenhagen November 17-18. \nThe workshop will take a deep dive into the discussion of Healthy Buildings; future designs as well as existing buildings\, based on four sub-categories: \n\nThe Future of Office Buildings: How will healthy buildings as a concept change the way we use and conceptualize buildings in the future?\nHealthy Indoor Climate: How is the full potential for healthy indoor climate achieved?\nSustainable and Smart Building Operations: How do we ensure that healthy buildings are also smart and sustainable buildings?\nSocial Communities: How can healthy buildings strengthen and support livability in the local communities they are part of?\n\nThe workshop invitees consist of Danish and German private developers\, architects\, designers\, urban development experts\, engineers\, proptech start-ups and other stakeholders within the built environment\, all representing a different perspective on the topic. You will be enriched with new business contacts\, opportunities and partnerships in the German and Danish markets and a portfolio disseminating all the workshop outputs for you to use in your own professional context. \nIf you would like to join please contact  Program Manager\, Torben Krab\, tkr@bloxhub.org.

SUMMARY:SCIENCE TALKS: How can the sustainable paradigm guide us towards a socially responsible circular transition?
DESCRIPTION:We have been working with the sustainability paradigm for a while now. It has guided transformation and reconfigurations of economic\, social\, and environmental aspects of our society. More recently\, circular economy has become the approach used for creating systemic change.\nMoreover\, an increasing concern for social justice and inclusion regarding circularity has risen. What can we learn from the sustainability paradigm and how can a circular economy meet the human needs within the planetary boundaries? \nSpeaker: Morten Ryberg\, Assistant Professor\, DTU\, Section for Quantitative Sustainability Assessment.\nMorten is specialized in LCA and environmental impact assessment\, business\, and economy and he holds a Phd in Integrating Planetary Boundaries into Life Cycle Assessment.\n___________ \nThis fall\, we host the event series ‘Designing the Irresistible Circular Society’ consisting of 8 Science Talks and BLOXHUB Debates:\nHow do we ensure a sustainable future and how will our buildings and cities be created and by whom? Which values and materials will characterize today’s and tomorrow’s society? Building a circular economy in the built environment is high on the agenda. SUMMARY:Can a High-quality Solution also be Sustainable and Profitable? Uncovering the Challenges in the Chinese Construction Industry
DESCRIPTION:BLOXHUB\, Innovation Centre Denmark | Shanghai\, and NISS (Nordic Innovation and Sustainable Shanghai) invite you to participate in a facilitated roundtable discussion uncovering the challenges facing the Chinese construction industry. Challenges which can be turned into business opportunities for Danish companies producing high-quality solutions within sustainable construction. \nThe Challenge\nChina has proposed ambitious action plans to reach CO2 emission peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. An estimated $46.6 trillion of investments in green and sustainable solutions is needed for China to reach carbon neutrality\, which corresponds to 10% of China’s annual investments. Additionally\, by 2030\, 70 percent of China’s population is expecting to live in cities\, which requires housing and infrastructure for an extra 300 million urban residents. Also\, in China\, construction have much shorter lifespans and maintenance costs for manual labour are far lower. \nThis calls for a shift in mindset within the Chinese construction industry; a shift towards the recognition that sustainable high-quality solutions pay off. \nJoin us in the discussion November 11 on how we convey the story that high-quality solutions are profitable in the long run and gain insights on what makes Danish sustainable solutions and collaborations attractive for the Chinese market. \nProgram  \n\nWelcome and introduction | by BLOXHUB\nPresentation of the challenge | by NISS\nExploring the challenge\nTour de table\nDiscussion of key points\nDiscussion of movements and new trends in the Chinese market and possible support | by ICDK\nSum up and next step | by BLOXHUB\, ICDK\, and NISS\n\n______ \nThe workshop is for BLOXHUB’s members who want to gain a foothold in the Chinese market.  \nPlease reach out to Program Director Lotte C. They act as a quick way for participants to show each other what they want to work with and what their skills are.\nIf you have a problem you would like to focus on\, this is where you get a chance to pitch it to the other participants and gather your dream team. \nAfterwards\, it is time to start hacking! Remember to bring all of your cool gadgets and tech as there will be plenty of opportunities to use them. Just remember to prepare a presentation! In the final part of the event\, the teams will present their projects to a panel of judges consisting of industry professionals. \n\nRead more about the format and previous events HERE. \n\nCOVID-19 \nWe are thrilled that it is possible to meet again\, and we cannot wait to see you at AEC Hackathon @ BLOXHUB! \nBLOXHUB follows the guidelines of the Danish Health Authority and act accordingly.
Daniel Hervik\, Direktør\, Haver til maver\n\n\nWhether you’re 8 or 80 years old\, cities should work for everyone v. \nTilmeld dig via formularen herunder:
