SUMMARY:Harnessing Citizen Data for Smarter Urban Development
DESCRIPTION:Unveiling Urban Futures: Exploring Resilience with BLOXHUB’s Roundtable Series \nJoin BLOXHUB’s Roundtable Series to participate in a dynamic and engaging discussion on critical urban challenges. The series will cover three important topics: Traversing Smart City Data\, Optimizing Urban Microclimates\, and Harnessing Living Cells for Construction Materials. Led by the Urban Partnerships team\, each roundtable will offer insights from a BLOXHUB expert in the featured topic\, and provide an opportunity for participants to actively explore challenges\, opportunities\, and innovative strategies related to the topics. \nHarnessing Citizen Data for Smarter Urban Development \nJoin us for a dynamic roundtable discussion on harnessing citizen data and engagement to drive intelligent\, resident-centered urban development. \nIn today’s era of data abundance\, there lies a wealth of opportunities to extract valuable insights into the behaviors and preferences of our city’s residents. However\, we must approach this effort with utmost care\, prioritizing ethical considerations and ensuring equity for all. \nTogether\, we will delve into the challenges of realizing citizen-generated data’s full potential. Building trust between state and non-state actors is paramount\, ensuring the reliability and sustainability of data gathered by non-state entities. \nWe have invited Peter Bjørn Larsen\, Director of Smart City Insights\, to kickstart the dialogue. He will set the stage for a constructive exchange of ideas and discuss the value of using external private sector data in urban development in a wide stakeholder context and what happens if we don’t. \nPlease sign up for the roundtable here: \n \n

SUMMARY:Bygningsdrift og vedligehold i et klimaperspektiv: Netto Nul - fra bygninger til byskala
DESCRIPTION:Det byggede miljø står for 30% af Danmarks klimapåvirkning. \nTilmeld dig via fomularen her:

SUMMARY:Money Talks: Rethinking a Circular Economy for Social Justice
DESCRIPTION:Be careful what you wish for! While a circular economy promises environmental benefits\, the pursuit of a more just society might not follow —it could even worsen existing inequalities. In our upcoming talk with Ken Webster\, we will delve into the intricate web of money and material cycles and explore the necessity for systemic change in our current economic landscape. \nReasons to Attend: \n▸ Understanding the limitations of a circular economy: Learn how a circular economy facilitates a green transition but might not inherently lead to a socially just society. \n▸ Unraveling the focus on recycling and behavior change: Explore why the emphasis often falls on individual actions rather than systemic and design changes. \n▸ The integral role of the money system: Discover why change is imperative and why we cannot rely on existing ideas. Would a system built on universal social dividends sourced from economic rents – the unearned surplus from monopolies\, fossil fuels\, real estate\, financial engineering\, and intellectual property help solve both materials issues and social justice? \nJoin us for this talk as we navigate the complexities of a circular economy\, exploring avenues for true circularity and social justice. \nAbout Ken Webster: \nKen Webster is a distinguished thought leader and expert in circular economy and sustainable development. He is a Visiting Professor at Cranfield University (UK). From 2010 to the end of 2018\, he was Head of Innovation for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation\, a circular economy pioneer organization\, where he helped shape the current notions of a ‘circular economy’. Webster is also an accomplished author\, with notable works including “The Circular Economy: A Wealth of Flows” (2017) and “The Wonderful Circles of Oz” (2022). \nPlease sign up via the form below: \nThis talk is part of the “Leave No One And Nothing Behind” a cooperation between the UIA and BLOXHUB.

SUMMARY:Building the Future: Engineering Living Materials (ELM)
DESCRIPTION:Unveiling Urban Futures: Exploring Resilience with BLOXHUB’s Roundtable Series \nJoin BLOXHUB’s Roundtable Series to participate in a dynamic and engaging discussion on critical urban challenges. The series will cover three essential topics: Traversing Smart City Data\, Optimizing Urban Microclimates\, and Engineering Living Materials. Led by the Urban Partnerships team\, each roundtable will offer insights from a BLOXHUB expert in the featured topic and allow participants to actively explore challenges\, opportunities\, and innovative strategies related to the topics. \nBuilding the Future: Engineering Living Materials (ELM) \nThere is an imminent and significant shortage of essential resources and materials worldwide. This shortage is not isolated to just the construction sector\, but it is anticipated to affect a wide range of industries across sectors. In other words\, the scarcity of crucial resources and materials is a pressing concern that has the potential to have far-reaching consequences\, influencing the functioning and sustainability of various industries globally. This underscores the urgency and importance of forging novel material streams and production methodologies. But in forging new material and production methodologies\, what new material worlds can we anticipate? \nThis roundtable endeavors to dissect the realm of Engineering Living Materials (ELM) – materials composed of living cells with the potential to fundamentally transform material production\, rendering it resource-efficient and ecologically sustainable and creating new functionalities\, interfaces\, relationships\, and experiences with our material world. \nThe roundtable will be introduced by Phil Ayres\, Professor at the Institute for Architecture and Technology at the Danish Royal Academy. Through reference to his involvement in the EU-funded EIC ELMs Portfolio\, he will provide an overview of ELM developments\, covering current perspectives\, immediate applications\, and medium-term prospects. \nAfter the introduction\, we will delve into uncharted territory\, discussing the production of an entirely new class of materials\, navigating legislation and certification\, and grappling with social acceptance and ethical considerations. \nThe roundtable will be held in BLOXHUB\, Bryghuspladsen 8\, 3rd floor\, meeting room Copenhagen\, 473 Copenhagen. \nPlease sign up for the roundtable here: \n \n

(Hosted by Molio and COWI) \nAI has the potential to change and transform the construction and operation of buildings\, and the prerequisite for good AI is good data. The more quality data you have\, the better the AI. Denmark – and Europe – represent small\, inhomogeneous markets with comparatively little data. In this session\, we want to discuss if and how we will collaborate around AI and data in the future. \nModerator: Michael Ambjørn\, CEO of Proptech Denmark \nPanelists:\nDaniel Maimann\, Associate Digital Transformation & Innovation Director\, COWI\nOle Berard\, Head of Contech Lab\, Head of Building Smart DK\, Head of Digi @ Molio\nNicolaus Falk-Scheibel\, PhD\, Attorney\, Poul Schmith\nLeise Sandemann\, Co-founder – Pathways AI \n14.00 – 14.10: Break \n14.10 – 14.40: Talk: The Impact of Technology in Construction (hosted by RIB Software) \nWhat the future will look like for the construction industry with the current revolution in technology.  \nSpeaker: Matthew Jackson\, Strategy lead of RIB Software \n14.40 – 15.20:  Talk: We Combine Technologies and Solve what a Single Technology can’t do (hosted by NIRAS) \nOnce BIM was supposed to solve all our problems. Then it was Linked Data. Then Computational design. Then it was Blockchain\, Now it’s Artificial Intelligence. That’s probably not going to happen either. Maybe we can combine technologies and understand the strengths and limitations of each technology. \nSpeaker: Stig Brinck\, Senior Expertice Director\, Digitalisation and process dev\, NIRAS \n15.10 – 15.20: Break \n15.20 – 15.50: Debate: Proptech – Investor Corner AMA: How to get backing (hosted by PropTech Denmark) \nHow do you get backing for your idea? Come hear from our PropTech Investor Corner expert panel who have experience\, perspectives – and insights useful for across the full scope of AEC hacks. The panel will run in an Ask Me Anything format – so you can get answers to all the things you were afraid to ask about soft funding\, seed funding\, how to work with advisors – and more.   \nPanel Moderator: Michael Ambjørn\, CEO of Proptech Denmark\n\nPanelists:\nKarina Brinch\, Angel Investor & Startup mentor\nLars B. Lindberg\, Angel Investor & Startup mentor\nPalle Dinesen\, Founder – Ubiqisense\nLeise Sandemann\, Co-founder – Pathways AI \n15.50 – 16.00: Break \n16.00 – 16.20: Talk: Cetopo – An AEC Startup Journey (hosted by Cetopo) \nCetopo is a startup that provides 3D-landscape models for architects. Cetopo could very well have started as a hackathon idea\, and some of the hackathon ideas at AEC hackathon might very well end up on a similar journey as Cetopo has had. \nSpeaker: Max Cedercreutz\, founder and CEO of Cetopo \n16.20 – 16.40: Talk: Extension model for building AEC MVPs (hosted by Autodesk Forma) \nAutodesk Forma is a web platform designed for the AEC industry\, that is built to be extendable. It already has contextual site data\, environmental analyses\, and interoperability with Revit and Rhino. We have built the extension framework in Autodesk Forma to allow you to test and validate your existing functionality with minimal adjustments. It can adapt to simple things like area calculations and all the way to custom design tooling and analysis visualization. In this talk we will take you under the covers and show you how we have built this framework for extensions and what you can do with it. \nSpeaker: Martin Nordby Johansen\, Software Engineer at Autodesk Forma

Each collaboration involves two to three CBEN-affiliated companies. \nThis event will showcase the projects’ results and demonstrate the practical application of applied science. \nProgram: \nMaterial Stories by Lene Damsbo Brix\, Circue\nMaterial Stories is a collaborative project with Circue\, Twin Transition\, Enemærke & Petersen\, and The Royal Danish Academy. It supports the flow of recycled materials in the public housing sector by developing a (digital) framework of knowledge and a dialog tool that can be used to communicate different value-creating aspects of recycled materials directly to residents. \nCircular Potentials on the Site by Frederik Agdrup\, Tredje Natur\nTredje Natur has\, in collaboration with Enemærke & Petersen\, been developing a publication that works as a tool. Based on two different building cases\, they define a framework for assessing reuse and recycling potentials for materials in outdoor spaces and landscapes. \nGuide to Social Commissioning and Post-Occupancy Evaluation by Vibeke Grupe Larsen\, Danish Association of Architectural Firms and Johanne Mose Entwistle\, AART\nThe Danish Association of Architectural Firms and AART have been developing a guide for architects on performing social commissioning and post-occupation evaluation. The guide defines how social sustainability\, linked to the use and application of buildings\, can generate social\, environmental\, and economic value for building owners and users and thereby support the circular economy. \nBy invitation only!
