SUMMARY:Book Launch "Belly" by Nora Bateson on Ecology\, Systems\, and Human Relationships
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a late afternoon of readings and conversation with Nora Bateson\, an internationally recognised thinker working at the intersection of ecology\, systems thinking and human relationships. \nTogether\, we’ll explore more than 150 years of intergenerational thinking on ecology\, complexity and change and what these ideas can offer us as we navigate the interconnected challenges of today. \nNora leads the International Bateson Institute\, where she developed the “Warm Data” concept and practices\, a way of noticing complexity that resists the urge to break everything down into neat\, isolated parts. If you’ve ever felt like the usual way of analyzing the world’s messiest issues misses the point entirely\, her work will feel like a breath of fresh air. \nIn Copenhagen\, Nora will introduce her new book\, Belly\, alongside Ecology of Mind: The Course\, a new publication by her late father\, Gregory Bateson\, one of the 20th century’s most influential thinkers in systems theory\, anthropology and ecology. \nConceived half a century apart\, the two works create a conversation across generations. Together\, they open new perspectives on how we understand ecology\, relationships and the many layers through which change takes place. \nExpect an afternoon for thinking across disciplines\, challenging familiar assumptions and exploring different ways of understanding the systems we are part of. \nWhether you work with cities\, sustainability\, design\, systems thinking or transformation\, or are simply curious about how we relate to one another and the world around us\, you are warmly invited to join the conversation. \n  \nProgram: \n3.30 pm: Arrival and registration \n4.00 pm: Kick off \n4.15 pm: Talk and Book reading by Nora \n5.30 pm: Book signing / Drinks and networking \n* If you already know you want a copy of Nora and/or Gregory’s books\, we highly recommend you pre-order here and pick up your copy at the event. \n* Note on pre-ordering online: To remove the postage charge\, when you go to Checkout be sure to select: “No postage on ebooks/collected books from the dropdown shipping list.” \n* After you order\, please email admin@triarchypress.net to let us know at which event you will be collecting your book(s). \n\nReserve your ticket here.\n  \nAbout the books: \nBelly by Nora Bateson \nNora brings the topic of infinite orders of change into the intimate world of intergenerational learning from the belly that has been tending and digesting all along: through the kitchen and shared meals\, the birth room\, the deathbed\, the grief\, the art that arrives unannounced\, the parenting\, the ceremonies and celebrations\, the unsticking of habits of perception\, the recognition of the among-ing of all life. Written from the belly. \n\nAn Ecology of Mind: The Course by Gregory Bateson. \nCompiled and edited by Phillip Guddemi\nGregory from the classroom to the page. \nIn 1976\, Gregory Bateson taught a course called An Ecology of Mind. For nearly fifty years\, the recordings of that course sat in the archive\, unpublished and unheard by most\, even while the ideas continued. Compiled and edited by Phillip Guddemi from the transcripts of recorded lectures\, this 465-page volume breathes the course into new form and onto the page: Gregory in conversation and mid-thought\, telling stories\, circling questions from many angles. A new entry point into learning to think ecologically. \n  \n
