SUMMARY:BLOXHUB Debates: Green buildings - green jobs: How the world’s cities will build back better and greener
DESCRIPTION:Building retrofits and clean construction are key to a greener\, healthier future with opportunities for everyone. \nBuildings typically represent the biggest source of emissions in C40 cities. And recent C40 research shows that while a green and just recovery could create over 50 million good\, sustainable jobs by 2025 in C40 cities\, building retrofits and new energy efficient construction would be the most significant job-creating areas cities can invest in. The jobs would be local and they could be created almost immediately due to the scale of action and size of the building stock; and with the right planning\, they could be targeted at those who need them. \nTo focus on the crucial role of buildings in ensuring a green and just Covid-19 recovery in the world’s greatest cities\, C40 and BLOXHUB invite you to a debate where distinguished leaders from cities\, business and civil society will discuss how to promote the sustainable and healthy buildings agenda. \nJoin us for this inspiring panel-discussion together with:\nModerator: Simon Hansen\, C40 Managing Director of Climate Solutions and Networks \nPanelists: \n\nMonica Barone\, CEO of the City of Sydney\nIngrid Reumert\, VP Global External Relations & Sustainability at VELUX\nAmbet Yuson\, General Secretary of Buildings and Wood Workers International\nEli Grimsby\, CEO of Oslobygg at the City of Oslo\nUHM Eui-Sik\, Director-General of the City of Seoul\n\n_____________________ \nAfter registration you will receive a link to the Youtube stream. \nSig up via form below

SUMMARY:Science Talks: IAQ\, ventilation and COVID: the latest insights?
DESCRIPTION:Speaker \nDr. ir. Atze Boerstra \nFeelgoodbuilding specialist\, bba & Managing Director & Vice President REHVA \nFinal program coming soon but feel free to sign up already now \n  \n \n___ \nThis event is part of an event series of 10 on the topic: Healthy buildings – high performance – happy hearts and minds Our indoor climate has a significant impact on our health and cognitive functions. Study after study shows that our wellbeing and performance improves dramatically with higher rates of ventilation\, optimal humidity\, lightning\, noise control and well-designed spaces. So\, what does it take to turn that knowledge into action? It’s time to look beyond the four walls — placing the decisions we make around buildings into the larger conversation around development and health and prioritizing the most important asset of any building: its people. Partners are: PROPTECH Denmark\, BUILD\, LYS Technologies\, Sound Cluster Denmark\, VELUX and BLOXHUB.

\nTilmeld dig via tilmeldingsformularen herunder

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB Debates: How indoor lighting is affecting your health
DESCRIPTION:How indoor lighting is affecting your health: a look beyond aesthetics and energy efficiency.  \nJust as air\, food\, and water – light is a natural and vital source to our health. To most people\, the absorption of light is an unconscious choice in life. It’s everywhere\, always. But often not in a healthy way.  \nToday\, we spend more than 90% of our time indoors. But most indoor lighting is unhealthy and not tailored to the occupants of the space. What are the main challenges to improve this? And how does the future of lighting look? \nJoin us for a vibrant panel discussion where various industry members will share different perspectives on the topic. \nThe scene will be set by: \nProf. Marilyne Andersen\, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology\nAnne Gade Iversen\, Indoor Climate Expert and Project Lead\, Realdania \n  \nPanelists:\nChristina Friis Blach Petersen (LYS Technologies)\nPeter Fangel Poulsen (Bauherr)\nEllen Kathrine Hansen (Aalborg University\, Copenhagen)\nMerete Madsen (MOE) \n Moderated by: \nLone Feifer\, VELUX\n \nSign up for this free online debate:

\nBlandt workshopshopdeltagerne er bl.a.

SUMMARY:Live Stream Event: Build Back Better
DESCRIPTION:The BLOX Summit Invite you to “Build Back Better” in the light of urbanization challenges\, amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. \nConsequently\, BLOX Global is inviting partnerships to Build Back Better sustainable solutions aligned with the UN 17 Goals. \nPlease stream the event via this link: https://getvisualtv.net/stream/?blox-build-back-better and experience speakers such as: \n\nExecutive Director Sanda Ojiambo\, UN Global Compact\nRegional Director Dr Hans Kluge\, WHO Europe\nVice Mayor\, Katrin Habenschaden\, Münich\nLord Mayor Frank Jensen\, Copenhagen Municipality\nVice-President\, Margrethe Vestager\, The EU Commission\nDr. Joseph Allen\, Harvard University\, Public Health\n\n  \nFor full program please visit: https://www.linkslabs.com/blox-build-back-better \nYou can also choose to stream on demand after the event.  \n  \nBuild Back Better and its origin\nTwo years after the Indian Ocean tsunami and earthquake of December 26\, 2004\, \nBuild Back Better (BBB) was created in an attempt to guide the long road towards \nrecovery. \nBuild Back Better was defined and officially used in the United Nations Sendai \nFramework for Disaster Risk Reduction. It is the implementation of recovery\, \nrehabilitation and reconstruction phases after a disaster to increase the resilience of \nnations and communities. \nLarge scale disasters cause extensive damages required for the full functioning of a \ncommunity. An inclusive and comprehensive disaster recovery framework serves as \nan agreed way forward to simplify the recovery process thereby maintaining or even \nimproving development trajectories while ensuring adherence to Build Back Better \nprinciples. \nA key learning from Build Back Better is to invite decision makers from other relevant \nplayers outside the industry to facilitate partnership to ‘build better in the future’\, as \nit will ultimately have a more solid effect on tomorrow’s sustainable urban solutions. \nBuild Back Better in Denmark\nThe concept of Build Back Better addresses issues from developing countries to a \ngreater extent\, as they are more likely to be victims of severe natural disasters and \nexperience more difficulties in raising large investments compared to developed \ncountries such as Denmark. \nThat being said\, the idea of learning from experiences\, and thus building back better \ntime after time is not a foreign practice in Denmark. Accumulated learning is \nembedded in every practice to which unforeseen events occur. \nAlthough the Build Back Better concept is not very widespread and common in the \nDenmark\, the overall mission towards becoming a ‘Green Nation’ is well connected \nwith Build Back Better \n\nBuild Back Better post Covid-19\nThe consequences of Covid-19 have accelerated the need for collaboration between the \nworld’s political leaders\, institutions\, organizations\, academics\, and businesses. As the \ncorona crisis gradually abates in some countries\, attention is turning towards stimulus \nmeasures that facilitate recovery. \nBuild Back Better should be the guiding principle in the aftermath of the pandemic. This \nmeans\, not only ensuring swift recovery but implementing strategies that protect \nprosperity in the long term. \nThe Covid-19 pandemic is already exacerbating negative trends in urban planning. For \nexample\, urban planning has created a reliance on private cars in many cities. The \nCOVID-19 pandemic could exacerbate this trend through an increase in demand for less \ndense neighborhoods. \nTransforming urban areas into livable and sustainable places can help address multiple \nissues outlined by the SDGs while simultaneously working towards a healthier and \nmore sustainable livelihood. \nBuild Back Better and the built environment\nBuild Back Better and the built environment demand that we search for ways to build \nmore sustainably. \nAn example; many resources used in construction such as concrete\, wood\, cement and \nmetal etc.\, are characterized by a long life cycle with low flexibility after construction. \nTherefore\, it is particularly important to think ‘build back better’ through sustainable \nmaterials e.g. wood\, recycled plastics\, ferrock\, bamboo\, rammed earth and straw bales \netc. \nBesides sustainable materials\, Build Back Better is also related to vigilant leadership\, \nrevisions of business models and supply chain management. \nThe essence is to provide a framework for decision-makers\, industry leaders and \npolitical figures to build back better new communities\, because “business as usual” is \nnot an option if we are to reach the UN’s SDGs.

DESCRIPTION:In every city\, there are topics which matter greatly to many people\, e.g. public space\, democracy\, and citizen engagement. There are topics which many people have an opinion about\, e.g. social housing. \nSo how do we create new knowledge about these important topics?  And how do we make this knowledge matter on the ground? \nWhat does it mean to do research with architecture exhibitions and in which ways does that ensure democratic involvement and engagement? \nWhat is it like to work collaboratively and cross-disciplinarily and across four European countries in 2020? \nJoin us for our next Science Talks. Here\, Anne Tietjen\, Associate Professor in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design\, University of Copenhagen\, will share valuable insights from a European research project\, PUSH\, and address some of the nuances of citizen engagement and public space. \nOur Science Talks will be streamed live but we also have limited seats for this Science Talks. \nPlease sign up:

SUMMARY:Coastal Zone Protection – New Financing Mechanisms
DESCRIPTION:Deep Dive Workshop: \nDanske kommuner står over for et stigende behov for at klimasikre den danske kystzone – særligt omkring bebyggede områder. +45 22 68 46 43

SUMMARY:Den levende SDG by – fra værdigrundlag til operationelt innovationsrum
DESCRIPTION:Deep Dive Workshop:  \nSom mange andre steder er SDG’erne i dag blevet værdiggrundlaget for en mere bæredygtig udvikling af vores samfund. \nWorkshoppen vil finde sted over to dage – datoerne er foreløbigt tentative.  \n  \nHvis workshoppen har din virksomheds interesse\, så kontakt: \nLotte Christina Breengaard\, Program Director \nE-mail: lcb@bloxhub.org\nTlf. +45 22 68 46 43
