SUMMARY:Multifunctional\, Safe & Resilient Playgrounds in Urban Areas - How to?
DESCRIPTION:How do we think beyond limited space making dense urban areas vibrant\, desirable\, sustainable\, and resilient with a full range of amenities? Together with Bezirksamt Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg von Berlin and WE BUILD DENMARK we would like to invite you to a 1-day workshop where we will take a deep dive into the overall challenge of how playgrounds can be designed to be inclusive\, climate-resilient\, clean\, safe\, open\, accommodating different groups of users\, without limiting the original function of providing a protected space for children. The quest calls for creativity and the ability to design for multifunctional purposes. \nAt the workshop we will look at the challenge from four different perspectives: \n\nInclusive & barrier-free: How can playgrounds be designed inclusively and barrier-free with the involvement of different user groups – children included?\nClimate-resilient & sustainable: How can playgrounds be designed to be climate-resilient to mitigate the effects of climate change\, preserve biodiversity and allow for usability despite climatic changes?\nClean & open: How can playgrounds be designed using technical\, design and organizational elements to promote an individual sense of cleanliness and safety so that the users feel comfortable?\nFlexible & versatile: Which technical\, design\, and organizational measures can be implemented for playgrounds\, facilitating use at different times and periods without limiting the original purpose of playgrounds to be a safe space for children?\n\nThe workshop is organized by BLOXHUB and will be a facilitated process with a mix of inspirational talks\, interdisciplinary group discussions\, and co-creation sessions. Based on a specific yet representative case provided by Bezirksamt Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg von Berlin the aim of the workshop is to generate ideas and prototype solutions which can be implemented and scaled to other areas. Workshop participants consist of members from the BLOXHUB ecosystem and selected stakeholders from Berlin to ensure a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to the subject. But is there a need for the industry to broaden its understanding of the ability and willingness to work with risks in its business models? \nTogether with SKANSKA HQ (SE)\, The Bridge by Altitude (SE)\, WE BUILD DENMARK and The Embassy of Denmark in Sweden and the Embassy’s Design Impact Hub\, BLOXHUB would like to invite you to a workshop on Monday the 29th of August from 9:00 – 16:00 at BLOXHUB in Copenhagen. \nThe case of the workshop will be a specific case of Skanska from Sweden\, which will undergo the focus of the workshop. To stimulate the workshop\, we will include the incentives of an international insurance company that works with risk-sharing analysis within the building industry\, in the workshop. He established his firm Exploration Architecture in 2007 to focus on high performance buildings and solutions for the circular economy. \nSince 2018 he has been increasingly providing advice to national governments and large companies on transformative change\, and he is also the author of two books. \nIn this talk Michael will give his perspective on the key differences between conventional sustainability and the emerging paradigm of regenerative design. DESCRIPTION:Byggeprojekter er ofte konfliktfyldte og koster danske virksomheder mange penge. Det kan og skal vi gøre bedre. Derfor inviterer BLOXHUB sammen med LivingLean til 1/2 dags workshop med formålet at identificere og diskutere greb\, der understøtter kulturændring og fremmer udviklingen af et ”win win” samarbejde for hele værdikæden i byggeprojektet. \nMed afsæt i en aktuel case vil vi på workshoppen dykke ned i\, hvad et samarbejde kan og bør indeholde. Sammen vil vi søge svar på\, hvordan et byggeprojekt kan organiseres\, så konflikter minimeres og det værdiskabende samarbejde styrkes. Workshoppen skal således munde ud i en række konkrete input til; Hvordan de forskellige aktører holder samarbejdet på sporet i projekterings- og udførelsesfasen\, og hvordan de kan tilpasse sig en mere åben\, dialogbaserede og løsningsorienteret tilgang til byggeriets processer\, både før og efter første spadestik. \nWorkshoppen organiseres af BLOXHUB som en faciliteret proces med en blanding af gruppeøvelser og -diskussioner samt inspirationsoplæg. The topic of the workshop is Healthy City\, and participants will get to work hands-on together with Hafencity Hamburg Gmbh on the new district Grasbrook. DESCRIPTION:As part of Nordic Edge Expo 2022\, EIT Urban Mobility\, Nordic Edge\, and BLOXHUB would like to invite you to a full-day workshop on the integration of a value-based approach to urban Mobility. \nTransforming urban mobility has the potential to transform people’s lives. Not only because urban mobility is something many people use to manage and shape their daily lives. Far more is at stake. \nOur current over-reliance on cars to get around cities has many negative effects on urban populations. These include noise and air pollution\, the risk of accidents and the privatisation of public space\, to name but a few. \nMentioned circumstances require changing systems of urban mobility to allow people and goods to move affordable\, fast\, comfortably\, safely and cleanly\, but at the same time enable cities to reclaim public space from cars to make cities better places for people to live\, work and play. \nUsing the urban development case of Stavanger West\, the workshop will focus on how the intersection between blue and green mobility in Stavanger West can be a catalyzer for healthy living\, social equity\, and biodiversity based on the values of inclusiveness and social equity. DESCRIPTION:We are proud to announce that we will be a part of Circular City Week in New York 2 to 8 May 2022. \nDuring Circular City Week\, we invite you to the workshop “Circular Economy in the Building Industry – from Pilot to Mainstream” in an international context on May 3 from 12:00 – 17:00 EST. \nDuring the last decade\, the building industry has established a solid knowledge base within circular economy – both when it comes to design\, materials\, and documentation. However\, these achievements have largely been accomplished through pilot projects\, which in most cases have been based on financial subsidies. So how does the building industry organize itself in order to ensure a circular transition from pilot to mainstream projects and which sustainable business models needs to be developed? We invite you to a half day workshop at Circular City Week to take a deep dive into this discussion and work with the following two dilemmas: \n\nThe market is responding to circular economy through an increasing demand for circular economy profiled projects. However\, ensuring a reliable supply of circular materials to meet the demand is a challenge. How is this barrier addressed in order to ensure that it does not discourage developers’ movement from a linear to a circular business model? \nInnovation is key for the future circular market. Circular innovation has to a large extend been driven by start-ups and smaller agile companies. However\, there is a risk that the larger companies are the only ones able to respond to an increasing circular demand. SUMMARY:Blå biodiversitet og bæredygtig byudvikling
DESCRIPTION:Omkring 71 procent af Jordens overflade er dækket af vand\, og havene rummer omkring 96\,5 procent af al vand p  Jorden. Havene udgør et omfattende økosystem\, og de er grundlæggende for livet som vi kender det. Havene – de blå zoner – er dog ikke blot afgørende for liv\, biodiversitet og rekreative områder. Værdien af de blå zoner anerkendes i stigende grad af beslutningstagere\, bygherrer og byplanlæggere som erhvervsgrundlag. Dette på trods mangler vi stadig at udvikle en praktisk tilgang\, hvor biodiversitet i havet tænkes ind i designet af byudviklingen i havne- og kystområder. \nSå hvordan kan vi i fællesskab byudvikle i de blå zoner\, så vi giver mere tilbage til byen end vi tager? \nBLOXHUB Roundtable `Blå biodiversitet & bæredygtig byudvikling \, er et to-timers møde\, hvor BLOXHUB medlemmer\, på baggrund af oplæg fra Habitats og Bygherreforeningen\, diskuterer muligheder\, forhindringer og læsninger\, der kan understøtte et bedre samspil mellem byudvikling og blå biodiversitet og gøre det attraktivt for byggeriets interessenter at investere i de blå zoner. \nPROGRAM \n14.00 Velkommen\, Lotte Breengaard\, Program Director\, BLOXHUB\n14.05 Hvad er blå byudvikling? DESCRIPTION:Byer verden over oplever i stigende grad en skævvridning i den aldersmæssige fordeling af befolkningen\, og oplever bl.a. udfordringer knyttet til trivsel og livskvalitet – ikke mindst blandt de ældre\, som ikke f ler sig hjemme i byerne og som i mindre grad benytter sig af byernes tilbud. Når vi ser den demografiske udvikling i øjnene\, må vi derfor spørge os selv: \nHvordan sikrer vi\, at fremtidens byer udvikles\, så de i højere grad tilgodeser den ældre målgruppes behov? Hvordan kan et fokus på de ældre ændre bybilledet? Bør det påvirke den måde byer udvikler sig på? Vil vi se en efterspørgsel på andre kulturtilbud\, transportmidler\, rekreative områder etc.? \nBaggrunden for denne BLOXHUB Roundtable er `Vision 2050´ initiativet\, der blev lanceret i 2021 af Carlsbergfondet med støtte fra bl.a. Instituttet for Fremtidsforskning. `Vision´ 2050 skitserer en række kerneområder\, der skal sikre\, at vi i 2050 lever i et land\, der danner rammen om det meningsfulde liv. Et af disse kerneområder er udviklingen af bedre  ældrebyer.
