SUMMARY:Planet-Centered Cities & Design Futures: From Human-Centered to Life-Centered (5th Gathering)
DESCRIPTION:In this final session of Regenerative Resources\, we zoom out to the systems level – urban life\, infrastructure and the future of cities. Human-centered design has driven important innovation\, yet often at the expense of ecosystems and future generations. Together we explore a core question: How do we move toward life-centered cities that operate within planetary boundaries\, honor bioregional identities\, and build resilience in a rapidly changing world? We explore emerging models for regenerative urban development – cities understood as living organisms\, capable of nurturing both people and planet. \nSpeakers   \n\nKaren Grønneberg – 2075\nAnnika Rømer – May We Speak and Live Like Mycelium? Connecting What Seems Apart\nNikolaj Sveistrup – Head of Development at Think Tank Brundtland\n\nFormat  \nAn experiential and dialogic journey blending storytelling\, concrete examples\, and shared reflection. Participants are active contributors\, engaging in conversations that surface collective intelligence and open pathways toward regenerative futures. \nWe look forward to welcoming you into the room. \nRegistration is required \nTo request a spot\, please contact Anna Viola – awe@bloxhub.org

SUMMARY:How do we bring nature-based solutions to life in real projects - not just in theory?
DESCRIPTION:The Nature-Based Solutions Network (NBS-Net) is a hands-on workshop series where we learn from cases\, share experiences\, and explore what it takes to implement NBS in practice. \nJoin our workshop\nDate: Thursday 29 January\nTime: 14:00 – 16:30\nLocation: BLOXHUB \n👉 Save your spot: Sign-up here \nWe’re joined by Siv Raun Andersen\, Deputy CEO of Kildedal By (Ballerup Kommune). Siv will introduce Kildedal By as a greenfield urban development case with a strong focus on nature — followed by facilitated table discussions on how and where nature can be meaningfully integrated in projects like this. \nWe’ll explore drivers and barriers across three themes: \n\n\nFinance & governance \n\n\nCommunity & stakeholders \n\n\nData & transparency \n\n\nThis is the first workshop in a planned trio covering greenfield\, brownfield and bluefield sites in Denmark – with lessons that are transferable across projects and disciplines. \nWho should join?\nOpen to everyone\, with particular relevance for practitioners\, developers\, municipalities and consultants. \nAbout Siv\nSiv has 20+ years of experience across municipal and private-sector projects in Copenhagen and Zealand. She is Deputy CEO of Kildedal By and previously served as Director of Climate & Environment at Frederiksberg Municipality and led the Kulbanekvarteret development in Valby. \nParticipation\nThis first network event is free and open to all. Subsequent workshops require a BLOXHUB membership. \nNBS-Net is driven by the Steering Group\, led by George Langridge Gould and Peter Andreas Norn.

DESCRIPTION:Byens Netværk\, BLOXHUB and Copenhagen Creative Partnership invite you to the launch of the inspiration catalogue “Successful Creative Environments” – 12 cases from Denmark and Barcelona\, developed by Lene Schaumburg (Copenhagen Creative Partnership / ZARK). \nWe’ll hear insights from four cases and close with a panel debate on creative placemaking and the mixed city – including what makes creative environments thrive\, what challenges them\, and where responsibility lies across municipalities\, developers and creative actors. \nSpeakers: Frederik Næblerød • Mette Helena Rasmussen • Jette Flinch Nyrop • Lau Gotthard ChristensenPanel includes: Lene Schaumburg & Mads MonradModerator: Lotte Christina Breengaard (BLOXHUB) \n👉 Sign up Save Your Spot Here \n(Session will be in Danish)\nFull Programme\n16.00\nWelcome – Lisbet Fibiger\, Byens Netværk\n16.05\n20 years of urban development: From workshop to value struggle – Lene Schaumburg\, ZARK\n16.15\nThe municipal perspective: Strategy\, frameworks and responsibility – Mads Monrad\, City of Copenhagen\n16.30\nFour cases from practice: When creative environments succeed\, and when they are challenged\nFrederik Næblerød\, Visual ArtistMette Helena Rasmussen\, Kunstsalonen.comJette Flinch Nyrop\, Municipality of SvendborgLau Gotthard Christensen\, Trifolium\n17.10\nCross-cutting learnings from the 12 cases – Lene Schaumburg\, CCP/ZARK\n17.20 Break\n17.30\nPanel debate: Can we plan our way to creative cities?17.55\nKey takeaways – Lotte Christina Breengaard18.00\nThank you and goodbye – Lisbet Fibiger\, Byens Netværk \nBackground \nThe catalogue builds on the analysis “The Creative City of the Future” (Copenhagen Creative Partnership and the Danish Institute for Cultural Analysis\, 2024)\, which highlights a growing tension in urban development: rising rents\, mono-functional neighbourhoods and increasing pressure on creative industries with limited ability to pay. \nDrawing on practical experience\, the catalogue asks:What does it take for creative environments to succeed? Who is responsible? And how can municipalities\, developers\, and creative actors work better together? \nDeveloped with 12 very different creative communities – from temporary\, citizen-led initiatives to larger\, established cases – the catalogue shows how creative environments can strengthen local identity\, urban life\, and social cohesion\, while helping counter standardisation and gentrification in new development areas.

SUMMARY:How Can We Make Regenerative Construction a Reality?
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an inspiring afternoon in Members Lounge marking the launch of a new guide to regenerative construction by ATV – The Danish Academy of Technical Sciences. \nMeet some of the leading voices in construction\, architecture\, research and civic innovation as they discuss how we move from ambition to practice. \nRegenerative construction is about moving beyond “doing less harm” and instead designing and building in ways that actively support climate action\, biodiversity\, and human well-being. At this event\, ATV will present concrete recommendations on how to turn the ambition of regenerative construction into practice. \nThe recommendations are presented in a guide titled Regenerative Construction. It points both to long-term goals and to concrete actions that can be tested in practice in a sector with high resource consumption and climate impact. \nTogether with an exceptionally strong panel\, we will discuss the necessary actions\, transformations and practices we need to leave behind in order to reach the goal of a building sector that is a positive force for the planet’s ecosystems. \nMeet\n\nAnne Mette Boye\, City Architect\, Aarhus Municipality\nCharlotte Boline Jepsen\, Managing Partner\, CIP Foundation\nJens Elmelund\, CEO\, KAB\nKaroline Amalie Steen\, CEO\, Democracy X\nMille Lindberg Hansen\, Advisor\, NXT\nSteffen Petersen\, Professor\, Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering\, Aarhus University\n\nRegistration 👇\nSave your spot here – Please note: Registration requires membership or the creation of a user profile. SUMMARY:Book Launch! The Paradox of Proximity - Preventing Urban Loneliness
DESCRIPTION:We live closer than ever – yet loneliness is rising across the globe. \nWith the launch of the book The Paradox of Proximity: Preventing Urban Loneliness\, BLOXHUB and Cities for Better Health invite you for an afternoon dedicated to viewing loneliness through an urban development lens. Loneliness is often framed as an individual condition. But what if it is also shaped by how we design housing\, structure neighbourhoods\, activate public space and govern our cities? This is where emotional urbanism comes in: recognising that cities do not only organise movement\, density and infrastructure\,  they also shape how we feel\, connect and belong. \nIf loneliness is influenced by urban systems\, it is also something cities can actively address. \n\nAbout the book\nThe Paradox of Proximity: Preventing Urban Loneliness explores one of the dilemmas of contemporary city life: how can we live closer than ever – yet feel increasingly alone? Drawing on interviews with experts from cities including Seoul\, Tokyo\, Vancouver\, Toronto\, Copenhagen\, Turku and Paris\, the book reframes loneliness as a spatial and systemic challenge also shaped by the built environment. Rather than treating loneliness solely as an individual health issue\, the publication positions urban design as a proactive tool for building social infrastructure. \n\n\nProgramme\n\n15.00\nWelcome / Torben Klitgaard (CEO\, BLOXHUB) & Jo Jewell (Director\, Cities for Better Health)\n\n15.15\nIntroduction to the book The Paradox of Proximity: Preventing Urban Loneliness\nAnn-Britt Elvin Andersen\, Chief Communication Officer\, BLOXHUB\n\n15.30\nKeynote: Cities Don’t Create Loneliness – They Concentrate It\nPete Bombaci\, Founder\, The GenWell Project (Canada)\n\n15.45\nPanel discussion: From Proximity to Belonging – Designing Against Urban Loneliness\nPanel: Jack Renteria (Founder\, Generation Global)\, Jo Jewell (Cities for Better Health)\, Ann-Britt Elvin Andersen (CCO\, BLOXHUB)\, Maya Shpiro (Social Impact Lead\, Henning Larsen)\, Markus Kalmari (Director of Sport Department\, City of Turku)\nModerator: Jakob Norman-Hansen (Director\, Global Networks & Partnerships\, BLOXHUB) \n\n16.30\nNetworking + drinks\n\nRegister your coming here

SUMMARY:AEC Hackathon 2026
DESCRIPTION:Using Tech & AI to Build CO2-Neutral\, Biodiverse\, and Engaged Communities\n\n\n\n\nAEC Hackathon 2026 takes over BLOXHUB from 27–29 March 2026\, bringing together people who design\, build\, code\, plan\, and question how the built environment works. It’s three days set up for energetic\, focused\, and purposeful collaboration. Less talking about change\, more trying things out together. \nWe know the word “hackathon” can sound like a side quest. This one isn’t. The challenges come from industry partners and reflect their current business operations and known challenges: decarbonisation\, biodiversity\, data\, delivery\, trust\, and the gap between ambitious goals and day-to-day practice. The point is to work with that complexity under different conditions and with different constellations of people than any one company could achieve alone. \nAcross the weekend\, teams form around shared problems and develop early solutions -tools\, methods\, workflows\, prototypes\, concepts – supported by mentors and partners. The outcomes can be small and sharp or bigger and more exploratory\, but they’re always grounded in use: what would it take for this to be useful in a project\, inside an organisation\, or across a value chain? \nBLOXHUB hosts AEC Hackathon because it’s one of the rare formats where new ideas\, development and connections can happen at the same time. There are tangible examples from previous years where projects have continued beyond the weekend\, finding funding\, becoming products\, or sparking collaborations and new hires. But even when an idea doesn’t become a “thing\,” it can still shift how people work\, what they prioritise\, and who they decide to work with next.  \nWho is it for? \nEvery year between 100 – 150 people attend AEC Hackathon – engineers\, architects\, computer scientists\, BIM developers\, design thinkers\, anthropologists\, and tech enthusiasts. \nThis year’s hackathon will address Tech & AI to Build CO2-Neutral\, Biodiverse\, and Engaged Communities \n  \n\n\n\nWHAT IS AEC HACKATHON?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAEC (Architecture\, Engineering\, Construction) Hackathon is an organization that\, since its origin in 2013\, has held events in numerous locations; e.g. Berlin\, Shanghai\, and Paris. It was created to give those designing\, building\, and maintaining our built environment the opportunity to collaborate with cutting-edge technologies and its developers and designers. Over the course of three days\, teams compete against each other while trying to find solutions for the problems they face in their everyday work.It has quickly become a community of innovators that includes all elements of the built environment\, not just AEC.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSecure your place here

SUMMARY:Nature-based Solutions & Biodiversity in Nordhavn
DESCRIPTION:How do we bring “nature-based solutions” to life in real projects?\n\n\nThe Nature-Based Solutions Member Network (NBS-Net) exists to explore and answer exactly that question. Through a series of practical workshops\, we aim to move nature-based solutions out of theory and into real-world implementation. \n\n\nJoin us for our third workshop on the 7th April at 14:00 in Nordhavn. In this workshop we are pleased to be joined by Annette Walter\, project manager for sustainable urban development at By og Havn. Annette will introduce By and Havns work with nature based solutions and biodiversity in the Nordhavn project – a major urban development of Copenhagen’s port area\, where the city’s land and water meet. \n\n\nAfter the introduction to Nordhavn’s process and design\, we will have a facilitated discussion on how and where nature can be meaningfully integrated into a development of this kind.  \n\n\nThis workshop is the second in a trio exploring nature-based solutions across greenfield\, brownfield and bluefield sites in Denmark – with lessons that extend well beyond these individual cases. As a brownfield site\, Nordhavn must examine ways to reinsert nature to places where it has been stripped away\, and this workshop will explore how that is accomplished in practice. \n\n\nParticipants will gain exposure to peer exchange across disciplines and insights that are transferable to their own work. While open to everyone\, the workshop is particularly relevant for practitioners\, developers\, municipalities and consultants. \n\n\nPracticalities\n\n\nDate: 7 April 2026\nTime: 14:00–16:30\nLocation: By & Havn\, Nordre Toldbod 7\, DK-1259 København K \n\n\nThe first event in the network is free. Participation in subsequent workshops require a membership of BLOXHUB.\n \nContact george@thenextecology.com to register your attendance

SUMMARY:How does data create value for your business?
DESCRIPTION:The new Digital Product Passport for construction products (DPP) is on its way and will within a few years become a permanent part of how we work with materials in construction. Is your company ready for a reality where product data plays a far greater role in collaboration\, documentation and competitiveness? \nOn 9 April\, BLOXHUB\, ConTech Lab and DI Byggeri invite you to a workshop on how we can integrate the EU’s Digital Product Passport\, with a focus on data as the currency of the future – a currency that will be in high demand. But we need a common language for data if we are to unlock its full value\, and the companies that get started early will be better positioned and gain a competitive advantage. \nThe Digital Product Passport for construction products (DPP) is an EU initiative designed to make product data easier to understand and share across the value chain. The passport establishes a new common framework for how goods are documented\, compared and tracked throughout their entire lifecycle. It opens up many opportunities\, but the value will not come on its own. The purpose of the workshop is therefore to build an understanding of how you can turn data into value for your business – and how the DPP can help along the way. \nAt the workshop\, we bring together stakeholders from across the industry for a shared dialogue on: \n– What the DPP entails and what value it can create for your business\n– How we can use the DPP to facilitate collaboration across the value chain\n– What minimum requirements must be met before the DPP comes into force in order to capture its full value\n– How you and your company can prepare for working with the DPP in practice \nWho can participate? The workshop is relevant for anyone working in the construction sector – whether you are a manufacturer\, supplier\, consultant\, contractor\, developer\, or simply interested in how the DPP can create value for your business. The format will be a mix of dialogue and inspirational presentations\, with the opportunity to exchange ideas with other stakeholders across the value chain. \nInspirational presentations \nWhat is the current status and direction of the DPP?\nLouise Bünemann\, Head of EU Environmental Policy\, DI\nJakob Rørbech\, Senior Consultant\, DI Byggeri \nNew business models with data at the centre\nAnne Merete Skov-Petersen\, Co-founder\, MiCollect \nThe circular business opportunities that come with the DPP \nMartha Lewis\, Head of Materials\, Henning Larsen Architects \nHow do we get ready for the DPP? \nChristina Juell-Sundby\, Project Manager\, Molio – ConTech Lab \nPractical information\nDate: Thursday\, 9 April 2026\nTime: 09:00–12:00 (Croissants and coffee/tea from 08:30)\nVenue: BLOXHUB\, meeting room: Los Angeles (Festningens Materialgård\, Frederiksholms Kanal 30\, 1220 Copenhagen)\nLanguage: The workshop will be held in Danish. \nRegister for the workshop here

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB Talks: IBASHO - Belonging as an Urban Design Principle
DESCRIPTION:What is Ibasho?\nIn Japanese\, ibasho describes both a physical place and an inner state – the feeling of being safe\, accepted\, and needed. \nAs an urban design principle\, it links architecture and psychology\, space and social life. It invites us to see belonging not as a by-product of design\, but as a condition for it. \nWhy now?\nCities are facing ageing populations\, social isolation\, and growing mental health challenges. Japanese practice offers a perspective where belonging is treated as foundational infrastructure. \nWhat can Nordic and European cities learn from this approach? \nWhat you will gain \nFor BLOXHUB members and partners\, this session offers an opportunity to: \n\n\nExplore new lenses on urban wellbeing and belonging \n\n\nEngage with Japanese and Nordic practitioners working with placemaking and human-centred transformation \n\n\nReflect on how belonging can function as urban infrastructure \n\n\nTranslate insights into Nordic and European practice through dialogue and collaboration \n\n\nJoin us\nParticipate onsite at BLOXHUB or online via livestream.\nSecure your spot here \nProgramme\n08:30-09:00 Breakfast and arrival – with Japanese culinary touches \n09:00 Welcome and setting the scene: Why Japan – and why now? / Jakob Norman-Hansen\, BLOXHUB \n09:10 Keynote (live online) Yuki Ikeguchi\, Executive Vice President\, Kengo Kuma & AssociatesOn Japanese placemaking and the cultural dimensions of space \n09:30 Keynote Helle Søholt\, Founder & Board Chair\, GehlHuman-centred urban transformation\, including lessons from Shibuya Station revitalisation \n09:50 Ibasho in practice: Belonging as urban infrastructure / Ann-Britt Elvin Andersen\, BLOXHUBIncluding insights from The Paradox of Proximity: Preventing Urban Loneliness \n10:05 Panel conversation and Q&A.
