SUMMARY:A greener future: Re-inventing cities
DESCRIPTION:Copenhagen: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM\nLondon: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM\nSeoul: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM\nShanghai: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM\nBengaluru: 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM\n__________\nThe main goal of the summit is to connect international stakeholders with Danish researchers\, government bodies and companies to share knowledge and create innovative solutions on smart cities and the green urban transition. The participants will be matched with Danish experts and stakeholders within urban development\, smart cities and future architecture to connect\, create and finally commercialize.\nWe will discuss:\n\nWhy the Nordic competencies should be part of the green building eco-system.\nHow we see opportunities for collaboration and innovation between Danish and international stakeholders.\nHow to engage in concrete partnerships across borders.\n\n \n \n  \n \nKEYNOTE SPEAKER \nSigne Kongebro\nGlobal Design Director\, Urbanism and Landscape/Partner\nHenning Larsen \n“There is absolutely no doubt that urban development has to ensure a green transition from its inception to implementation. However\, the success criteria of the green transition is not only green but also to create social impact.” \n \n\n\n\nMODERATOR \nPernille Berg\nScience Manager\nBLOXHUB \n\n  \n \n  \nPeter Normann Vangsbo\nHead of Innovation Centre Denmark\,\nSeoul \n“When it comes to reinventing cities\, we want to combine technology\, social innovation and green development. We need to connect both researchers\, entrepreneurs\, community groups\, private businesses and decision makers in the big cities in order to connect\, create and commercialize sustainable solutions for the future ” \n\nDebate and Matchmaking\nLivable cities for people\nCities continue to experience population growth. Megacities are growing and as the big cities grow bigger\, so do the challenges. We must ask ourselves: how do we ensure healthy cities which support high quality of life? What do livable cities require and what do the citizens wish?\n__\nICDK Shanghai: Thomas Trøst Hansen\nBLOXHUB facilitator: Torben Krab \nUrban Mobility\nProviding infrastructure services to meet the demands of businesses\, organisations\, households\, tourists\, and citizens at large is one of the major challenges of economic as well as urban and sustainable development. In this breakout session we will discuss how new forms of mobility and technological solutions can support urban mobility.\n__\nICDK Tel Aviv\, Lasse Vinther-Grønning\nBLOXHUB facilitator: Lotte Breengaard \nCircular Construction\nConstruction is one of the industries that accounts for most CO2 emissions. Therefore\, circular construction has also gained ground as one of the ways in which CO2 emissions can be reduced. But what is circular construction and what does circular construction mean from a urban planning perspective? How do we ensure that materials can be recycled and included in a circular process as just one of the questions which must be addressed and answered in the green transition.\n__\nICDK Seoul: Peter Normann Vangsbo\nBLOXHUB facilitator: Jakob Norman-Hansen \nDesigning Cities\nWhat should the cities of the future look like? Urban design has to a large extent been characterised by a focus on technological aspects of cities which is commonly known as the smart city strategy. The concerns and interests of citizens are nevertheless coming to the forefront nowadays with the awareness that a liveable city does not only consist of good infrastructure and sustainable energy supply but also citizen input and feedback. But how do we integrate citizens’ ideas and wishes in the urban planning process?\n__\nBLOXHUB facilitator: Helle Stendorff \nSustainable business models for cities\nWith an increased focus on securing cities against climate change\, there is also a focus on long-term investments. But who invests in the cities and which business models to use if we are to ensure a sustainable urban development that benefits investors\, the climate as well as the people who live and work in the cities?\n__\nICDK Shanghai: Martin Rune Hoxer\nBLOXHUB facilitator: Martine Reinhold Kildeby \n\n__________ \nInnovation Centre Denmark consists of a total of 7 centres located in strategic innovation hotspots around the world\, which connect Danish innovation to international partners. ICDK have insights into research\, science\, technology\, new business models and commercial innovation. Through the seven locations\, they: \n\nConnect Danish innovation to global markets\nGive access to international knowledge and research in innovation hot spots\nUnite government bodies\, academia and businesses\nProvide access to investors and key stakeholders abroad.\n\nInnovation Centre Denmark (ICDK) is a partnership between the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and co-organizer of “A greener future: Re-inventing cities”. \n__________ \nFurther information on ICDKs work and related articles:\nSmart City and Smart Mobility in Israel\, ICDK Tel Aviv\nGreener Future: Reinventing Cities\, ICDK München\nDenmark’s national space strategy – Update of strategic objectives\, Ministry of Higher Education and Science\, DK\nGreen solutions of the future – Strategy for investments in green research\, technology\, and innovation\nSocial housing can provide inspiration for South Korea’s housing problems (NB the article is in Danish only).\nBuild the world of tomorrow with the waste of today\, ICDK Seoul\nNordic Talks Korea: Nordic Talks Korea is a flagship initiative by the Nordic Embassies in Korea that aims to start Nordic-Korean conversations about solving the global challenges and inspire citizens to take action for a more sustainable society.\nKorea´s Green Transition and Technology Strengths\, ICDK Seoul

SUMMARY:15-Minute city: Framing the Future of Urban Development
DESCRIPTION:Novo Nordisk\, Gehl and BLOXHUB invite you to a one-day workshop to take a deep-dive into how the 15-Minute City Framework can accelerate global\, impact-driven\, sustainable urban development. The 15-Minute City Framework is gaining international traction and is set to become a central piece for how cities can approach post-pandemic urban (re)development. The 15-Minute City is a recognisable framework of well-known urban development methods with the objective to nudge design processes for ambitious\, inclusive\, and measurable outcomes with citizens’ needs front and center. With a familiar set of methods and a clear vision of 15-Minute City Framework accessibility\, We know a lot about what must be done\, but less about how to do it. The workshop will explore the challenges and opportunities to working with and achieving the 15-Minute City Framework. \n\nAs a global healthcare company with a purpose to drive change to defeat diabetes and other serious chronic diseases such as obesity\, we are curious to learn how the design or redesign of a city using the 15-Minute City Framework\, built on a bottom-up engagement model\, can support urban health and well-being. We have a specific interest in increasing local capacity among the almost 40 cities in our global city network\, Cities Changing Diabetes and we hope the learnings will also be inspirational to other cities\, and thereby provide another method to help improve urban health and well-being. \n– Niels Lund\, Vice President\, Global Prevention and Health Promotion\, Novo Nordisk.\n\nThe workshop will take starting point in a series of dilemmas found in Bogotá and Colombia\, based on the release of a new report on Foodscapes conducted by Gehl and Novo Nordisk in the city’s most deprived communities. Insights from the report around access to food\, mobility\, land use planning and citizen perspectives will lay out key challenges and frame the context of the workshop that will allow participants to Ideate based on the overall question: What elements are needed to create a scalable\, analytical methodology for the 15-Minute City Framework that cities and companies working on urban development can use to create health and wellbeing? \nThe workshop will have a broad holistic perspective ranging from the collection and use of data and how this is utilized into an inclusive urban development process based on tactical urbanism. \nInteresting in joining? SUMMARY:Universal Design for more usable\, livable and healthy buildings
DESCRIPTION:We spend our lives within public and private buildings and our daily activities depend more and more on the possibilities that these environments offer us. \nThe environment influences our experiences and has an impact on our physical and mental health. One of the major challenges of architects today is to offer spaces that respond to all people’s needs\, regardless of differences in physical\, sensory\, mental and social abilities. This will bring to more usable\, livable and healthy buildings for everyone. \nSpeakers: \n\nRoberta Cassi\, Industrial Ph.D. Fellow\, Royal Danish Academy – Architecture\, Design\, Conservation.\nErica Isa Mosca\, Postdoctoral Researcher\,  Ph.D. arch\, Politecnico di Milano – Architecture\, Built Environment and Construction Engineering\, Design & Health LAB.\nTurid Borgestrand Øien\, Researcher\, PhD. cand.arch\, Department of the Built Environment\, Aalborg University – Construction Management and Innovation.\n\nSign up below

SUMMARY:Water Safe Cities: How cities are safeguarding their populations in the climate crisis
DESCRIPTION:The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed how vulnerable cities are to extreme events and has brought the inequalities that exist in our societies into stark focus. It has demonstrated that the poorest and most vulnerable are often exposed to greater risk and find it harder to access essential services. At the same time\, in many areas of the world\, the COVID-19 pandemic has been a crisis within a crisis — a public health emergency that requires frequent handwashing in conditions where access to water is not universal. \nAcross C40\, cities are prioritizing investments in basic services and using nature-based solutions to strengthen resilience and safeguard citizens. This event will focus on the short- and long-term risks that water poses to our cities\, and the potential to make communities more resilient by investing in water management\, nature based solutions and increasing safe guards to water hazards. \nIntroductions by Simon Hansen\, C40 Managing Director for Climate Solutions and Networks \nPanel participants:\nMarissa Aho\, Chief Resilience Officer\, City of Houston\nJane Eagle\, Deputy Director for Open Space Planning\, Water and Biodiversity\, City of Johannesburg\nPeter Trillingsgaard\, Group Vice President\, Corporate Communication\, Public Affairs and Sustainability at Grundfos\nRebecca Ilunga\, C40 Water Security Network Manager \nModerator:\nLykke Leonardsen\, Head of program for Resilient and Sustainable City Solutions\, City of Copenhagen \nSign up via form below

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB Debates - Is user-centric architecture a good investment?
DESCRIPTION:The situation: Architecture is about more than designing building envelopes to protect our belongings from the outside world. Buildings affect our lives\, our health and our ability to restitute. More and more studies show that even simple building design decisions can have a significant impact on the future quality of life for a building’s occupants. \nHowever\, buildings designed in great detail for very specific functions and tasks can perhaps not offer flexibility over time\, as people’s needs change. If we want to reduce the carbon footprint of our buildings in the long-term\, then they must be adaptable in order to prevent early demolition\, safeguarding the investment of existing and future property owners. \nIn this debate we will discuss if it’s possible to design and construct buildings for specific users with specific needs\, whilst also making for a good long-term investment. We talk about: \n\nExamples of the effect of good architecture and space planning\nCan buildings heal people; can they make us better; more efficient?\nHow do you evaluate good architecture and space planning?\nHow can you put a price tag on future adaptability?\nHow do you balance specific user needs\, property investments and a low carbon footprint?\n\nPanelists: Professor Peter Barrett\, Partner\, Nutbox Consultancy\, Emeritus Professor\, University of Salford\, Hon Research Fellow\, Oxford University\, Dorit Simonsen\, Head of Hospice Djursland\, Patrick Stremler\, Managing Partner\, Dietrich I Untertrifaller Architects \nModerator: Oliver Schulze\, co-founder\, Schulze+Grassov \nSign up via form below: \n

SUMMARY:Science Talks: Just how does space impact well-being and learning?
DESCRIPTION:As part of our Healthy Buildings event series our next Science Talks on Thursday 22 April is on \nSpace\, Body\, and Brain \nAs the kind of living organisms we are\, we are in many ways dependent on our ability to act in space to thrive and survive. Thus\, our brain is constantly preoccupied with predicting our possibilities to act spatially and adjust both body and brain accordingly. As we mostly live in manmade environments\, this ongoing adjustment means that certain aspects of the design of spaces might have a direct influence on the state of the body and the brain. \nZakaria Djebbara is an architect from Aalborg University who defended his Ph.D. in 2020 in the cross-section of architecture\, neuroscience\, and philosophy. He is currently a postdoc at Aalborg University and committed to understanding the relationship between brain activity and the experience of architecture by an experimental approach. \nLars Brorson Fich graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 1984 and work as a practicing architect until he turned to research at Aalborg University in 2008. He defended his Ph.D. entitled “Towards a Neuroaffective Approach to Healing Architecture” in 2014 and is today an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture\, Design\, and Media Technology. \nBoth Zakaria Djebbara and Lars Brorson Fich are members of the BBAR (Brain\, Body\, Architecture Research group) at Aalborg University. \nSign up below

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB Debates: Green buildings - green jobs: How the world’s cities will build back better and greener
DESCRIPTION:Building retrofits and clean construction are key to a greener\, healthier future with opportunities for everyone. \nBuildings typically represent the biggest source of emissions in C40 cities. And recent C40 research shows that while a green and just recovery could create over 50 million good\, sustainable jobs by 2025 in C40 cities\, building retrofits and new energy efficient construction would be the most significant job-creating areas cities can invest in. The jobs would be local and they could be created almost immediately due to the scale of action and size of the building stock; and with the right planning\, they could be targeted at those who need them. \nTo focus on the crucial role of buildings in ensuring a green and just Covid-19 recovery in the world’s greatest cities\, C40 and BLOXHUB invite you to a debate where distinguished leaders from cities\, business and civil society will discuss how to promote the sustainable and healthy buildings agenda. \nJoin us for this inspiring panel-discussion together with:\nModerator: Simon Hansen\, C40 Managing Director of Climate Solutions and Networks \nPanelists: \n\nMonica Barone\, CEO of the City of Sydney\nIngrid Reumert\, VP Global External Relations & Sustainability at VELUX\nAmbet Yuson\, General Secretary of Buildings and Wood Workers International\nEli Grimsby\, CEO of Oslobygg at the City of Oslo\nUHM Eui-Sik\, Director-General of the City of Seoul\n\n_____________________ \nAfter registration you will receive a link to the Youtube stream. \nSig up via form below

SUMMARY:Science Talks: IAQ\, ventilation and COVID: the latest insights?
DESCRIPTION:Speaker \nDr. ir. Atze Boerstra \nFeelgoodbuilding specialist\, bba & Managing Director & Vice President REHVA \nFinal program coming soon but feel free to sign up already now \n  \n \n___ \nThis event is part of an event series of 10 on the topic: Healthy buildings – high performance – happy hearts and minds Our indoor climate has a significant impact on our health and cognitive functions. Study after study shows that our wellbeing and performance improves dramatically with higher rates of ventilation\, optimal humidity\, lightning\, noise control and well-designed spaces. So\, what does it take to turn that knowledge into action? It’s time to look beyond the four walls — placing the decisions we make around buildings into the larger conversation around development and health and prioritizing the most important asset of any building: its people. Partners are: PROPTECH Denmark\, BUILD\, LYS Technologies\, Sound Cluster Denmark\, VELUX and BLOXHUB.

\nTilmeld dig via tilmeldingsformularen herunder
