SUMMARY:Nye krav til bæredygtighed i byggeriet
SUMMARY:Can a High-quality Solution also be Sustainable and Profitable? Uncovering the Challenges in the Chinese Construction Industry
DESCRIPTION:BLOXHUB\, Innovation Centre Denmark | Shanghai\, and NISS (Nordic Innovation and Sustainable Shanghai) invite you to participate in a facilitated roundtable discussion uncovering the challenges facing the Chinese construction industry. Challenges which can be turned into business opportunities for Danish companies producing high-quality solutions within sustainable construction. \nThe Challenge\nChina has proposed ambitious action plans to reach CO2 emission peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. An estimated $46.6 trillion of investments in green and sustainable solutions is needed for China to reach carbon neutrality\, which corresponds to 10% of China’s annual investments. Additionally\, by 2030\, 70 percent of China’s population is expecting to live in cities\, which requires housing and infrastructure for an extra 300 million urban residents. Also\, in China\, construction have much shorter lifespans and maintenance costs for manual labour are far lower. \nThis calls for a shift in mindset within the Chinese construction industry; a shift towards the recognition that sustainable high-quality solutions pay off. \nJoin us in the discussion November 11 on how we convey the story that high-quality solutions are profitable in the long run and gain insights on what makes Danish sustainable solutions and collaborations attractive for the Chinese market. \nProgram  \n\nWelcome and introduction | by BLOXHUB\nPresentation of the challenge | by NISS\nExploring the challenge\nTour de table\nDiscussion of key points\nDiscussion of movements and new trends in the Chinese market and possible support | by ICDK\nSum up and next step | by BLOXHUB\, ICDK\, and NISS\n\n______ \nThe workshop is for BLOXHUB’s members who want to gain a foothold in the Chinese market.  \nPlease reach out to Program Director Lotte C. SUMMARY:SCIENCE TALKS: How can the sustainable paradigm guide us towards a socially responsible circular transition?
DESCRIPTION:We have been working with the sustainability paradigm for a while now. It has guided transformation and reconfigurations of economic\, social\, and environmental aspects of our society. More recently\, circular economy has become the approach used for creating systemic change.\nMoreover\, an increasing concern for social justice and inclusion regarding circularity has risen. What can we learn from the sustainability paradigm and how can a circular economy meet the human needs within the planetary boundaries? \nSpeaker: Morten Ryberg\, Assistant Professor\, DTU\, Section for Quantitative Sustainability Assessment.\nMorten is specialized in LCA and environmental impact assessment\, business\, and economy and he holds a Phd in Integrating Planetary Boundaries into Life Cycle Assessment.\n___________ \nThis fall\, we host the event series ‘Designing the Irresistible Circular Society’ consisting of 8 Science Talks and BLOXHUB Debates:\nHow do we ensure a sustainable future and how will our buildings and cities be created and by whom? Which values and materials will characterize today’s and tomorrow’s society? Building a circular economy in the built environment is high on the agenda. This series addresses the how to’s through eight events in the format of Science Talks and BLOXHUB Debates where we will engage city planners\, policy makers\, decision makers\, clients\, investors\, and users; present the latest research and experiences and ask the tough question: How do we create the irresistible circular society? \nPartners: Arup\, 3XN/GXN\, Lendager Group\, The Royal Danish Academy\, Danish Design Centre\, Build\, Aalborg University and BLOXHUB. \nSign up here:

SUMMARY:Healthy Office Buildings. Bridging the Danish and German Market
DESCRIPTION:90% of people’s time on average is spent indoors. Thus the indoor climate has a significant impact on our health and cognitive functions. Several studies show that our well-being and performance improve dramatically with higher rates of ventilation\, optimal humidity\, the right light\, noise control and well-designed spaces. BLOXHUB (Copenhagen) and Factory Hammerbrooklyn (Hamborg) would like to invite you to join a cross-disciplinary workshop discussing how we turn that knowledge into action. \nBLOXHUB and Factory Hammerbrooklyn have entered a long-term strategic partnership with the aim to foster collaborations across borders\, share and disseminate knowledge\, establish new business partnerships in the neighboring markets\, and create the best innovation lab for co-creating urban sustainable solutions. You are invited to join the first in a series of workshops under the initiative as part of the kick-off event taking place in Copenhagen November 17-18. \nThe workshop will take a deep dive into the discussion of Healthy Buildings; future designs as well as existing buildings\, based on four sub-categories: \n\nThe Future of Office Buildings: How will healthy buildings as a concept change the way we use and conceptualize buildings in the future?\nHealthy Indoor Climate: How is the full potential for healthy indoor climate achieved?\nSustainable and Smart Building Operations: How do we ensure that healthy buildings are also smart and sustainable buildings?\nSocial Communities: How can healthy buildings strengthen and support livability in the local communities they are part of?\n\nThe workshop invitees consist of Danish and German private developers\, architects\, designers\, urban development experts\, engineers\, proptech start-ups and other stakeholders within the built environment\, all representing a different perspective on the topic. You will be enriched with new business contacts\, opportunities and partnerships in the German and Danish markets and a portfolio disseminating all the workshop outputs for you to use in your own professional context. \nIf you would like to join please contact  Program Manager\, Torben Krab\, tkr@bloxhub.org.

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB DEBATES: How do we create an inclusive and socially responsible circular economy?
DESCRIPTION:Creating a circular economy has almost exclusively focused on the economic and environmental gains while the social impacts have barely been considered beyond the issue of job creation. Creating a more circular economy can create new sources of inequality in the world. The question is: How do we secure a circular transition that meets the needs of all within the means of our planet? We take a deep dive into the circular transformation from the perspective of social justice and inclusion in terms of distribution of wealth\, opportunities\, and privileges within a society. \nPanelists:\n– Frenzi Ritter\, Junior researcher at Metabolic\, Holland.\n– Rebecca Clube\, Interdisciplinary PhD researcher at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London\n– Salomé Galjaard\, Strategist for Circular Economy\, City of Amsterdam.\n– Karoline Liedtke-Sørensen\, Head of Landscape\, COBE\n– Siddharth Hande\, CEO and Founder of Kabadiwalla Connect\, India \nThis BLOXHUB Debates will be moderated by Monica Maria Moeskær\, Program Director – Cities Lead\, Danish Design Center.\n___________ \nThis fall\, we host the event series ‘Designing the Irresistible Circular Society’ consisting of 8 Science Talks and BLOXHUB Debates:\nHow do we ensure a sustainable future and how will our buildings and cities be created and by whom?
