SUMMARY:Workshop: The Impact of the New Digital Product Passport
DESCRIPTION:BLOXHUB\, Revalu and Staticus invite you to a workshop focusing on the new Digital Product Passport. The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is one of the most significant upcoming regulatory and digital shifts for the built environment.  \nAs part of the Circular Economy Action Plan under ESPR (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation)\, the Digital Product Passport will redefine how product data is created\, governed\, and shared — from materials and components to whole buildings.  \nAlthough often discussed in relation to consumer goods\, the Digital Product Passport is increasingly relevant to construction\, real estate\, and building materials.  \nThis workshop brings together contractors\, manufacturers\, and technology partners to clarify current policy and standardisation work and explore practical implications for the industry in relation to:  \n• Data readiness (identifiers\, Environmental Product Declarations/EPDs\, data structures)  \n• Interoperability with existing systems  \n• Potential pilot use-cases  \nTwo inspirational talks will set the scene and inspire the dialogue:  \n• “Setting the Scene for the Digital Product Passport: Where Are We Now?” Alexander Siegfried\, Product Specialist\, OpenCirc  \n• ”Industry implications and practical challenges of the Digital Product Passport” Martha Lewis\, Head of Materials\, Henning Larsen  \nTogether\, we will discuss the potential and challenges of the Digital Product Passport. As part of the dialogue\, we will focus on how the construction industry can collaborate effectively to reduce the data burden and benefit from the increased data transparency.  \nWhere:  \nBLOXHUB\, Fæstninges Materialgaard Meeting Room: Los Angeles  \nThere is a limited number of seats\, so please register as soon as possible.  \nSign up here.

SUMMARY:Talkshop: Why do we choose city life when happiness is found in the countryside?
DESCRIPTION:Over the past decade\, the share of Denmark’s population living in the Greater Copenhagen area and in cities with more than 50\,000 inhabitants has grown by 5% — an increase of 376\,192 people.Yet\, a 2023 research project supported by Realdania shows that people living in rural areas are\, on average\, a little happier — challenging the narrative of the struggling countryside. \nWhile cities continue to project significant population growth and an urgent need for new housing\, perhaps it’s time to promote life beyond the urban centers — and to unlock the potential of rural areas\, for example by reusing existing vacant buildings for homes. \nIn this Talkshop\, we’ll discuss how transforming existing buildings in rural areas — rather than building new ones — can contribute to livable\, sustainable communities. We’ll also explore how a more nuanced narrative about rural life can translate into real projects and funding opportunities. \nBased on an inspirational talk by futurist Tanja Nyrup Madsen (FriFugl)\, participants will share insights\, ideas\, and challenges around how to make better use of existing buildings and resources across the urban–rural divide. \nTalkshop program08:30–09:00 Arrival\, coffee & croissants09:00 Welcome and introductionInspirational talk:Why do we choose city life when happiness is found in the countryside?– Tanja Nyrup Madsen\, FriFuglFacilitated discussion11:00 Summary and thank you \nWhereBLOXHUB\, Fæstningens MaterielgårdMeeting room: Los Angeles \nSign up here

SUMMARY:Doughnut Economics in the Built Environment - From Theory to Practice
DESCRIPTION:How can we design cities that not only thrive but also restore the planet? \nThis event series is specifically crafted for professionals who are committed to designing cities that prioritize both human and planetary sustainability. In an era where the pressure to build smarter and greener is increasing\, Doughnut Economics offers a framework to balance urban growth with environmental stewardship. \nWhy Doughnut Economics? \nDoughnut Economics\, developed by economist Kate Raworth\, is a groundbreaking model that envisions a world where economic development happens within the ecological limits of the planet while meeting the basic needs of all people. The model represents two concentric rings: the inner ring is the social foundation\, ensuring no one falls short on life’s essentials; the outer ring represents the ecological ceiling\, beyond which we cause irreversible environmental damage. \nThis framework is particularly important for the built environment\, where urban development often comes at the cost of the environment \nWho Should Attend? \n\nUrban planners and architects\nMunicipal and state agency professionals\nCity developers and policymakers\nSustainability experts in the built environment\n\nWhy Attend? \nIn this series of three interconnected workshops\, we will explore how to apply the principles of Doughnut Economics to urban development. Doughnut Economics challenges the outdated growth models that harm the planet\, offering a vision for cities that operate within environmental limits while ensuring a high quality of life. \nWhat to Expect \n\nPresentations from global pioneers who are integrating Doughnut Economics into their urban planning strategies.\nWorkshops designed to translate theory into actionable practices\, providing you with the tools to apply these concepts in your own projects.\nCollaborative Discussions on challenges and solutions to creating cities that embrace the green transition without compromising functionality or livability.\nNetworking with like-minded professionals who are shaping the future of sustainable urban design.\n\nWhat Will You Learn? \n\nBest practices from cities and companies already using Doughnut Economics to guide sustainable development.\nPractical tools for implementing these models in your own projects.\nInsights on how to move from theoretical frameworks to real-world applications\, creating cities that are regenerative and distributive by design.\n\nSign up for the workshops via form below:

SUMMARY:Matchmaking 'Creating an Industrial Research Project'
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this information and matchmaking event leading up to the launch of our new industrial research network\, Towards a Regenerative Built Environment (REGEN). We will dive into the making of an industrial research project. You will meet other researchers\, Innovationsfonden\, Realdania and BLOXHUB at this event. \nWe have invited: \n\n\n\n\n\nSøren Nielsen (Vandkunsten & Aarhus school of Architecture) to say a few words on the defining question of the network: Why do we need regenerative built environments\, what kinds of transformations are needed\, and what could a regenerative architecture look like in practice?\nCecilie Friis (Concito) about the nature of wicked problems\, the importance of transdisciplinarity and share some questions on her emerging new work on translating the planetary boundaries to planetary politics.\nKristine Henriksen (Innovationsfonden) will introduce to the application process.\nSimon Kofod-Svendsen (Realdania) why Realdania is supporting this initiative \n\n\n\n\n\nSo join us if you want to learn more about: \n\nWhat does an industrial research project look like?\nWhat are the dos and don’ts of writing a research application?\nHow do you approach collaboration between research and industry when considering project design and application?\n\nExpect insights from the research and practical aspects of creating industrial research projects. Learn about the application process and network structure and meet potential new research collaborators. \nFor questions\, reach out to Jacob Rask\, Director\, Regenerative Built Environment Network jra@bloxhub.org \nTo sign up\, please fill in the form below:
