SUMMARY:A Green Transition with Smart City Solutions
DESCRIPTION:LET’S JOIN FORCES IN SUPPORTING A GREEN TRANSITION WITH SMART CITY SOLUTIONS! \nSmart solutions are an inevitable part of creating sustainable environments. If we use data wisely\, we can move so much faster towards sustainability – push forward a green transition of cities and buildings and create awareness to engage citizens to act more sustainably. \nWe can create good stuff\, but if we join forces\, we might create magic ….. \nWE BUILD DENMARK intends to create a dynamic and informal interdisciplinary environment where clusters\, associated experts\, and stakeholders across borders collaborate\, exchange ideas and challenges\, and discuss best practices in innovation efforts. All to support a vision of creating sustainable and innovative solutions for our cities and communities. \nWe will start the journey by inviting you to a 24-hour workshop in Copenhagen. \nAt this join-forces workshop\, WE BUILD DENMARK wants to create a forum for sharing ambitions on innovative sustainable solutions\, bridge shared knowledge\, and organize cross-border networks to work together on possibilities and create solutions for faced challenges. \nThe workshop is an invitation to meet and engage in discussions on:\n– European collaboration on smart cities\n– Visions for smart solutions supporting a green transition in cities and buildings\n– Known challenges that we can address and push forward together. \nThis first workshop aims to identify a future collaborative cluster that\, through EU fundraising\, can work on cross-border smart city projects\, sharing experience and knowledge. \nThe network will decide on the themes to be discussed\, but we expect to take off in the EU mission for 100 Climate-neutral cities in 2030. However\, the program for the first meeting will include sessions for all to introduce ambitions and challenges. \nParticipants\nThe primary target group is representatives of smart city clusters in Norway\, Finland\, Sweden\, Ireland\, Germany\, the Netherlands\, and Denmark. When the primary group is formed\, a secondary target group can be involved: Representatives of internationally oriented companies\, universities\, and (GTS) institutes with the potential for major innovation collaborations.

SUMMARY:Building Skins as a New Sustainable Approach Towards Climate Change
DESCRIPTION:Climate change presents our urban environment and buildings with a wide range of challenges\, and we need to adapt the way we plan and build with these challenges in mind to be able to secure the future and livability of our cities and buildings. \nGreen building skins can be one part of a broader range of actions to counter climate change. They not only provide solutions within the context of climate change – such as reduction of heat island effect\, extended water retention\, and rainwater collection – they also o er significant added value in improving microclimate and increasing biodiversity in urban areas. \nWerner Sobek and BLOXHUB\, Urban Partnerships would like to invite you to a 1-day workshop where we zoom in on how building skins can be used to handle climate change and bring about a significant reduction of the ecological impact of our buildings. \nAt the workshop we will discuss challenges and opportunities and identify ideas\, concepts\, and solutions related to how building skins of the future should perform to support a successful sustainable transition\, that takes into account more extreme environmental conditions. \nThe workshop is organized by BLOXHUB and will be a facilitated process with a mix of inspirational talks\, interdisciplinary group discussions\, and co-creation sessions. \n___ \nPlease contact Program Director at BLOXHUB Lotte Breengaard for further information regarding content and registration; lcb@bloxhub.org / +45 22 68 46 43

SUMMARY:Blå biodiversitet og bæredygtig byudvikling
SUMMARY:Universal Design for more usable\, livable and healthy buildings
DESCRIPTION:We spend our lives within public and private buildings and our daily activities depend more and more on the possibilities that these environments offer us. \nThe environment influences our experiences and has an impact on our physical and mental health. One of the major challenges of architects today is to offer spaces that respond to all people’s needs\, regardless of differences in physical\, sensory\, mental and social abilities. This will bring to more usable\, livable and healthy buildings for everyone. \nSpeakers: \n\nRoberta Cassi\, Industrial Ph.D. Fellow\, Royal Danish Academy – Architecture\, Design\, Conservation.\nErica Isa Mosca\, Postdoctoral Researcher\,  Ph.D. arch\, Politecnico di Milano – Architecture\, Built Environment and Construction Engineering\, Design & Health LAB.\nTurid Borgestrand Øien\, Researcher\, PhD. cand.arch\, Department of the Built Environment\, Aalborg University – Construction Management and Innovation.\n\nSign up below

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB Debates - Is user-centric architecture a good investment?
DESCRIPTION:The situation: Architecture is about more than designing building envelopes to protect our belongings from the outside world. Buildings affect our lives\, our health and our ability to restitute. More and more studies show that even simple building design decisions can have a significant impact on the future quality of life for a building’s occupants. \nHowever\, buildings designed in great detail for very specific functions and tasks can perhaps not offer flexibility over time\, as people’s needs change. If we want to reduce the carbon footprint of our buildings in the long-term\, then they must be adaptable in order to prevent early demolition\, safeguarding the investment of existing and future property owners. \nIn this debate we will discuss if it’s possible to design and construct buildings for specific users with specific needs\, whilst also making for a good long-term investment. We talk about: \n\nExamples of the effect of good architecture and space planning\nCan buildings heal people; can they make us better; more efficient?\nHow do you evaluate good architecture and space planning?\nHow can you put a price tag on future adaptability?\nHow do you balance specific user needs\, property investments and a low carbon footprint?\n\nPanelists: Professor Peter Barrett\, Partner\, Nutbox Consultancy\, Emeritus Professor\, University of Salford\, Hon Research Fellow\, Oxford University\, Dorit Simonsen\, Head of Hospice Djursland\, Patrick Stremler\, Managing Partner\, Dietrich I Untertrifaller Architects \nModerator: Oliver Schulze\, co-founder\, Schulze+Grassov \nSign up via form below: \n

SUMMARY:Science Talks: Just how does space impact well-being and learning?
DESCRIPTION:As part of our Healthy Buildings event series our next Science Talks on Thursday 22 April is on \nSpace\, Body\, and Brain \nAs the kind of living organisms we are\, we are in many ways dependent on our ability to act in space to thrive and survive. Thus\, our brain is constantly preoccupied with predicting our possibilities to act spatially and adjust both body and brain accordingly. As we mostly live in manmade environments\, this ongoing adjustment means that certain aspects of the design of spaces might have a direct influence on the state of the body and the brain. \nZakaria Djebbara is an architect from Aalborg University who defended his Ph.D. in 2020 in the cross-section of architecture\, neuroscience\, and philosophy. He is currently a postdoc at Aalborg University and committed to understanding the relationship between brain activity and the experience of architecture by an experimental approach. \nLars Brorson Fich graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 1984 and work as a practicing architect until he turned to research at Aalborg University in 2008. He defended his Ph.D. entitled “Towards a Neuroaffective Approach to Healing Architecture” in 2014 and is today an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture\, Design\, and Media Technology. \nBoth Zakaria Djebbara and Lars Brorson Fich are members of the BBAR (Brain\, Body\, Architecture Research group) at Aalborg University. \nSign up below

SUMMARY:Coastal Zone Protection – New Financing Mechanisms
DESCRIPTION:Deep Dive Workshop: \nDanske kommuner står over for et stigende behov for at klimasikre den danske kystzone – særligt omkring bebyggede områder. +45 22 68 46 43

SUMMARY:Den levende SDG by – fra værdigrundlag til operationelt innovationsrum
DESCRIPTION:Deep Dive Workshop:  \nSom mange andre steder er SDG’erne i dag blevet værdiggrundlaget for en mere bæredygtig udvikling af vores samfund. \nWorkshoppen vil finde sted over to dage – datoerne er foreløbigt tentative.  \n  \nHvis workshoppen har din virksomheds interesse\, så kontakt: \nLotte Christina Breengaard\, Program Director \nE-mail: lcb@bloxhub.org\nTlf. +45 22 68 46 43

SUMMARY:Hvordan ser fremtidens danske hjemmearbejdspladser ud?
Desuden deltager ledelsesrepræsentanter fra\nbl.a.

SUMMARY:BLOXHUB SUMMER SCHOOL ON LIVEABLE CITIES
DESCRIPTION:In cooperation with Roskilde University (RUC) we are proud to present this summer school on liveable cities. \nCities have become the sites of both the world’s major problems and major possibilities. Consequently\, liveability has become a leitmotiv of urban development\, and it must be questioned what makes a city liveable\, for who and what\, and how in practice and theory? \nThe course introduces different critical perspectives on what makes cities ‘liveable’ and through various themes\, we explore specific efforts to improve urban conditions as well as layout the challenges involved. The course is organized around cases from cities around the world and especially Copenhagen and its surrounding lands. Particular interest is given to Copenhagen because it is a site through which ideas and practices of liveable urban living are being explored\, promoted and contested. What to learn from these actions and lessons? \nUnfolding liveable cities is about the ability to integrate social\, cultural and environmental dimensions. Key to this integration is to investigate and experiment with the diversity of cities and the processes through which life unfolds and cities take shape. Through research-based perspectives and a strong collaboration with local planners and practitioners\, you will learn not only from multiple perspectives\, but also work with real-life challenges experienced by various urban agents.
