AEC Hackathon 2026

AEC Hackathon 2026 takes over BLOXHUB from 27–29 March 2026, bringing together people who design, build, code, plan, and question how the built environment works. It’s three days set up for energetic, focused, and purposeful collaboration. Less talking about change, more trying things out together.
We know the word “hackathon” can sound like a side quest. This one isn’t. The challenges come from industry partners and reflect their current business operations and known challenges: decarbonisation, biodiversity, data, delivery, trust, and the gap between ambitious goals and day-to-day practice. The point is to work with that complexity under different conditions and with different constellations of people than any one company could achieve alone.
Across the weekend, teams form around shared problems and develop early solutions -tools, methods, workflows, prototypes, concepts – supported by mentors and partners. The outcomes can be small and sharp or bigger and more exploratory, but they’re always grounded in use: what would it take for this to be useful in a project, inside an organisation, or across a value chain?
BLOXHUB hosts AEC Hackathon because it’s one of the rare formats where new ideas, development and connections can happen at the same time. There are tangible examples from previous years where projects have continued beyond the weekend, finding funding, becoming products, or sparking collaborations and new hires. But even when an idea doesn’t become a “thing,” it can still shift how people work, what they prioritise, and who they decide to work with next.
Who is it for?
Every year between 100 – 150 people attend AEC Hackathon – engineers, architects, computer scientists, BIM developers, design thinkers, anthropologists, and tech enthusiasts.
This year’s hackathon will address Tech & AI to Build CO2-Neutral, Biodiverse, and Engaged Communities
