RESUMÉ
This project challenges the wasteful practice of timber in the construction sector where the majority of the material is currently single-use. By investigating the architectural potential of wood that does not comply with current classification standards, the project aims to reconsider how waste timber material is valued. Through Research by Design, the project will explore several circular approaches to designing with wood that we currently regard as waste. Evolving as a series of 1:1 prototypes and demonstrators, these are then evaluated upon sustainability parameters, with an aim to contribute to an extended useful lifespan of timber in buildings.
Based on research by design, the project examines digital tools, material culture, and how these can contribute to the art of building.
