London Festival of Architecture – The Paradox of Proximity

June 26 @ 15:00 - 17:00

Cities bring us closer together than ever before. Yet loneliness, social fragmentation, and disconnection continue to grow. How can we design urban environments that foster meaningful connections—not just physical proximity?

Join BLOXHUB’s Chief Communications Officer, Ann-Britt Elvin Andersen & Director, Global Networks and Partnerships, Jakob Norman-Hansen for a conversation exploring the paradox of proximity: why living close to one another doesn’t automatically create stronger communities, and how architecture, public space, and city-making can help bridge the gap. Together with practitioners, researchers, and urban thinkers, we’ll discuss how design can strengthen social ties, create a sense of belonging, and support healthier, more connected cities.

This event is part of the wider conversation sparked by the London Festival of Architecture, a platform for exploring how the built environment can create more inclusive, people-centred cities.
