BLOXHUB welcomes two new members to its Board of Directors. Simon Kjær Hansen and Søren Houen Schmidt bring extensive experience in research, climate action, public innovation, and strategic urban development, further strengthening BLOXHUB’s mission to create sustainable and inclusive cities through cross-sector collaboration.

Simon Kjær Hansen is Director of the Queen Mary Center at the University of Copenhagen and has built his career at the intersection of research, cities, climate, and public leadership. His previous roles include Global Director at the international city and climate network C40 and Deputy Director of the Technical and Environmental Administration in the City of Copenhagen.

Søren Houen Schmidt is a Partner at Grandville and brings many years of experience in strategic urban development, partnerships, and the delivery of complex urban transformation projects. Throughout his career, he has helped create shared direction and long-term solutions across public and private stakeholders.

The two new board members will support BLOXHUB’s ambition to bridge research, industry, public institutions, and civil society in shaping the cities of the future.

“The greatest challenges facing cities cannot be solved by one sector alone. At BLOXHUB, we believe innovation happens when different perspectives come together and when knowledge is translated into action. We are therefore delighted to welcome Simon Kjær Hansen and Søren Houen Schmidt to the Board. They bring valuable experience and perspectives that strengthen our ability to convene the right actors around solutions to some of the defining challenges of our time – from climate and resource consumption to wellbeing and social cohesion in cities,” says Helle Søholt, Chair of the Board at BLOXHUB.

Over the past years, BLOXHUB has strengthened its position as an international platform for innovation and collaboration in sustainable urban development. The addition of Simon Kjær Hansen and Søren Houen Schmidt further reinforces BLOXHUB’s ability to connect knowledge, innovation, and action across sectors and geographies, helping accelerate solutions to global urban challenges.
