WHEN

2019 –

WHAT

Through an Urban Partnership Workshop, BLOXHUB created a new partnership between selected companies from the ecosystem and the City of Riga to work together on new concepts for energy optimization of older apartment buildings.

WHY

To reduce carbon emissions in old buildings with a poor indoor climate in Riga.

THE STORY

The planning department of Riga City has been asked to create e a city plan for the next 7 years in Riga.

This plan is highly based on the housing situation, and the Riga City Architect’s office is researching and planning for creating better, more energy-optimized homes.

Through BLOXHUB Urban Partnerships, BLOXHUB and Front Architects gathered a group of companies and organizations and went to Riga to make a plan together for energy optimization in the old buildings in collaboration with the City of Riga.

We are looking forward to following this global partnership in the years to come.

Quote: “Only when we started the collaboration with BLOXHUB, did our vision for the transformation of the old concrete blocks in Riga’s suburbs become realistic. We would not have had the resources for realizing this vision on our own.” Rune Ulrich Madsen from FRONT Architects.
