Safe Urban Spaces for All, Many, Few

Although Denmark is one of the safest countries in the World, the Safety Survey from 2021 (Tryghedsmålingen) shows that there is reason to pay attention – the number of people feeling unsafe after dark in their immediate environment has almost doubled since 2015; from 11% to 20% in 2021. And that has consequences – for the quality of life, for freedom of movement, for how we use and design urban spaces.

Together with JUUL FROST ARCHITECTS, we invite you to a 1-day workshop focusing on how we can increase the experience of safety in cities. At the workshop, we will examine and challenge ideas and solutions that can be elements in an answer to how the city and urban spaces are rethought creating opportunities for social and functional diversity and security among the many users.

The workshop is organized by BLOXHUB as a facilitated process and the participants consist of a wide circle of stakeholders to ensure that the ideas are developed at the intersection between the greatest possible interdisciplinary and different interests. In addition to group exercises/discussions, the day offers inspirational presentations by Ole B. Jensen from the Department of Architecture and Media Technology at Aalborg University, Mikkel Bille from the University of Copenhagen, Helle Juul from JUUL FROST ARCHITECTS, and Sofie Kirt Strandbygaard from DTU Orbit.
